Sliding doors are increasingly becoming an important part of home design. Large glass surfaces provide plenty of natural light and connect the interior and exterior. It’s not just the sliding mechanism itself that plays a role here. The threshold also plays a major role in determining comfort, appearance, and technical performance. With the ECO PASS GFK 164-NL, SIEGENIA is expanding its range of thresholds for wooden lift-and-slide systems to include a version made of glass-fiber-reinforced plastic (GFK).
The new threshold has been specifically developed for use in wooden lift-and-slide units and has a depth of 164 mm. In addition, a wooden profile construction with a depth of 139 mm is available. This gives window frame manufacturers more options for adapting the sill to various constructions and project situations.
A key advantage of fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) is its high dimensional stability. The material remains stable even when exposed to high thermal loads. This is important for large facade elements that may be subject to significant temperature fluctuations throughout the day.
The ECO PASS GFK 164-NL also delivers excellent performance in terms of wind and water resistance. The construction meets driving rain resistance class 9A and air permeability class 4. For wind load resistance, it meets class C2/B3. In addition, the threshold has a KOMO certificate and, of course, complies with SKG**.

In addition to technology, design plays a significant role. The ECO PASS GFK 164-NL is available in black, reflecting the popularity of dark window frames, hardware, and other facade elements.
The black base of the threshold is finished with a high-quality coat of paint and combined with a black anodized track. When combined with black hardware components from the HS 4.0 line, this creates a unified visual appearance. This allows the threshold to be integrated much more seamlessly into the overall design, particularly for large lift-and-slide doors.
Various solutions are also available for the floor connection. For example, there is a 5-mm-thick flush version that is recessed 50 mm into the floor. This allows for a comfortable, virtually flush transition between the interior and exterior. If the construction situation requires it, a classic version with a small step is also available.
With the ECO PASS GFK 164-NL, SIEGENIA combines several features into a single threshold solution: structural stability, excellent wind and water tightness, design flexibility, and a contemporary black finish. For architects and window manufacturers, this means more opportunities to tailor high-quality lift-and-slide units—both technically and visually—to a building’s design.
