Starting October 1, 2026, the VMRG Quality Requirements and Recommendations 2027 will be available online. The structure of the Quality Requirements has been completely revamped. The number of chapters has been reduced from 24 to 7, and the website layout has been completely redesigned. This prevents duplication, makes searching easier, and improves user-friendliness.
The VMRG Quality Requirements apply to aluminum and steel facade elements. They form the basis of the VMRG Quality Mark. These requirements are continuously updated to reflect new standards and regulations, and they are constantly being refined and expanded.
The new version includes a separate section on employee safety. The VMRG Quality Mark is being gradually expanded to include safety in order to create a safe work environment. Safety in construction is not a choice, but a prerequisite for quality. Only by working together can we make the construction industry in the Netherlands safer and prevent incidents.
Additional requirements have also been included for curved (insulated) aluminum components used in windows, doors, and curtain walls. For example, clear agreements must be in place in advance between the curtain wall contractor and the supplier of the curved components.
The Qualisteelcoat requirements apply to the surface treatment of steel. Qualisteelcoat is the international quality label for coating steel with organic coatings. The descriptions in the Quality Requirements have been aligned with those of Qualisteelcoat.
The VMRG Quality Requirements form the basis of the VMRG Quality Mark. Architects specify the VMRG Quality Mark in their specifications to ensure high-quality facades. Metal facades and facade elements supplied by companies with this quality mark are guaranteed to meet the requirements listed on the VMRG website, vmrg.nl. These companies are also audited by an independent organization to verify compliance. All facade contractors affiliated with the VMRG hold the VMRG Quality Mark.
Starting October 1, 2026, the requirements for 2027 will be available online. Officially, these requirements will not take effect until January 1, 2027. Users are free to declare the VMRG Quality Requirements 2027 applicable as of now.
