Window frame system stands out: sleek design, strong performance for high-rise buildings, and optimization for prefabrication

High-rise projects place complex demands on plastic window frames. Architects envision a minimalist design and maximum natural light, while construction at great heights requires extreme wind and water resistance. At the same time, construction must be more efficient to shorten the construction timeline. With its high-rise concept, GEALAN perfectly meets these stringent requirements. This system combines a sleek design with high performance for high-rise projects and is ideal for the prefabricated housing market.

‘Innovation mit System’ is GEALAN’s tagline and reflects the company’s focus on developing new solutions. The S 9000 NL fine system for the Dutch market is a great example of this.

This system has a face width of just 50 mm, making it one of the slimmest plastic window frame profiles on the Dutch market.

Slim design: only 50 mm face width

Today, GEALAN is further expanding that system with the high-rise concept, which allows them to perfectly meet modern aesthetic and logistical requirements. “Whereas traditional systems require wide profiles to ensure stability, we’re introducing a solution just 50 mm wide—immediately one of the slimmest PVC window frame profiles on the Dutch market,” says Bas van den Eerenbeemt, Head of Service & Development for the Benelux. “Thanks to a new principle in the building connection, we can drastically reduce the visible width while retaining the characteristic Dutch window frame edge. This minimalist design ensures maximum glass surface area and optimal natural light, which substantially enhances living comfort in high-rise projects. Furthermore, the window frame connects seamlessly all around, ensuring perfect insulation, airtightness, and a sleek finish.”

The 3-seal system is ideal for high-rise projects, where it is exposed to severe weather conditions. The center seal acts as an impermeable barrier against cold air currents. This profile is suitable for insulated glass up to 52 mm thick.

Strong performance for high-rise projects

In high-rise projects, the facade is subjected to additional stress from wind and weather. That is precisely when mechanical strength and aesthetic durability must go hand in hand. The S 9000 NL fine from GEALAN is a slim yet strong profile that ensures superior stability against heavy wind loads and allows for the integration of insulating glass up to 52 mm thick. This is essential for meeting the strict requirements for thermal insulation, burglary resistance, and sound insulation in urban high-rise locations.

“The innovative 3-seal system of our S 9000 NL series is ideal for high-rise projects, where it is exposed to severe weather conditions. The flexible, central seal acts as an impenetrable barrier against cold air currents. Because the tilt-and-turn hardware is located entirely within the dry zone behind this center seal, corrosion is prevented and the service life of the components is extended,” van den Eerenbeemt continues. “In addition, we use our unique GEALAN-acrylcolor® coloring technology. The durable fusion of the PMMA coloring technology with the plastic profile makes the slim window frame weather-resistant, scratch-resistant, and dirt-repellent. This eliminates the need for periodic repainting and complex facade maintenance at great heights. GEALAN-acrylcolor® offers a color-fast, low-maintenance guarantee for decades. As a result, the minimalist design retains its aesthetic value even in the long term.”

Optimized for prefabricated applications

With the S 9000 NL fine, GEALAN also offers an excellent solution for the growing market of prefabricated applications. “Thanks to the complete subframe, you can achieve efficient attachment to the interior wall and a guaranteed airtight seal in no time at all. This makes the system the ideal modular solution for mass production,” concludes Bas van den Eerenbeemt. “Manufacturers of prefabricated elements benefit from fast processing and assembly. This minimizes failure costs and significantly reduces lead time on the construction site. With the S 9000 NL fine, we are setting the new standard for efficient, industrial, and aesthetically pleasing construction.”
