Security Essen 2026: Focus on Integrated Security

Security requirements are changing at a rapid pace. Digital threats are on the rise, critical infrastructure must be better protected, and new geopolitical developments are posing additional challenges for businesses and government agencies. At the same time, technologies such as artificial intelligence, intelligent surveillance systems, and interconnected platforms are opening up new possibilities for the security industry. How these innovations can be applied in practice will be the focus of Security Essen, the leading trade fair for the security sector, which will take place from Tuesday, September 22, through Friday, September 25, 2026, at Messe Essen.

Key themes include digitization, artificial intelligence, and resilient security concepts. In the exhibition halls, visitors will get a comprehensive overview of modern security solutions. From access control, mechatronics, and mechanical security systems to perimeter security, fire and burglary protection, security services, specialized security vehicles, and solutions for civil protection and civil defense: the exhibitors at Security Essen offer a comprehensive view of the market.

System Integration

Security Essen also showcases the very latest innovations in the field of modern perimeter security.

A particular focus is placed on the interconnection of systems. Whether it involves AI-driven video analysis, cloud-based access control, intelligent locking systems, or modern perimeter security: more and more systems are interconnected, exchanging real-time data and supporting security managers in assessing risks and implementing appropriate measures. For installers, designers, security companies, and end users, the trade show thus offers a comprehensive overview of the technologies and solutions that will shape the market in the coming years.

Knowledge Sharing as a Driver of Innovation

In addition to the exhibition floor, there is an extensive program of events that highlights and explores current developments within the sector. Specialized lectures, conferences, and theme days provide opportunities for discussion, new insights, and the exchange of knowledge among the business community, academia, government agencies, and users.

The event kicks off on September 22 with Training and Continuing Education Day and Emergency Services Day. The DNS Digital Networking Security Conference, taking place on September 22 and 23, will focus on current issues surrounding cybersecurity and digital resilience. The European Drone Conference, taking place on September 23 and 24, will shine a spotlight on a technology sector that is becoming increasingly important for both civilian and government and security-related applications.

Other highlights include Banks and Savings Banks Day (September 24) and the security experts forum, where exhibitors and industry experts will present their latest developments and practical experiences throughout the trade show. Together, these program components underscore that innovation in the security sector stems not only from new products, but above all from the sharing of knowledge and experience.

New Trade Show for the Defense Industry

The Euro Defense Expo (EUDEX) will play a special role in 2026, as it will be held concurrently with Security Essen for the first time. Together with Security Essen, this new trade show for the defense industry will demonstrate how civil and military security are becoming increasingly intertwined. Topics such as the protection of critical infrastructure, crisis preparedness, resilience, and the response to hybrid threats make cooperation between the private sector, governments, and the armed forces more important than ever. A key link in this context is the theme of civil protection and civil defense.
