New Production Facility and Product Line Expansion: Henderson Sets the Stage for the Future of Technology

After more than fifty years, P.C. Henderson has moved from its factory in Bowburn to a new, state-of-the-art facility in Belmont, County Durham. The move marks a new phase for the specialist in sliding and folding door hardware. With more space for production, innovation, testing, and product presentation, Henderson is positioning itself for further growth. Henderson Netherlands is also keeping pace, with a revamped website and the introduction of the Husky Pro XL built-in system.

Henderson Nederland has been active in the Dutch market since 1965. The company focuses on high-quality solutions for sliding and folding doors and track systems. The relocation of the British parent company to Belmont marks an important milestone in this regard. After more than half a century at the same production site, the new facility offers room for further development and more efficient production. “The move is much more than just a change of address,” says René van den Biggelaar, Business Unit Manager for the Netherlands. “It’s an investment in the future. The new location gives Henderson the space to further strengthen production, innovation, and quality. Ultimately, our customers in the Netherlands will benefit from this as well.”

Comprehensive testing facility

A key feature of the new facility is its extensive testing facility. Testing has been an essential part of product development at Henderson for many years. Systems are subjected to more than 100,000 operating cycles. According to Henderson, this is equivalent to opening and closing a sliding door five times a day for 55 years. The tests are conducted in accordance with BS EN 1527. “You shouldn’t just promise reliability—you have to prove it,” says Van den Biggelaar. “By testing products extensively, we can substantiate their performance and durability and identify any areas for improvement at an early stage.”

The testing facility is also used during the development of new products. The in-house design team can test prototypes, evaluate design changes, and assess performance. 3D printing technology also helps turn ideas into prototypes quickly.

New Showroom

The new location in Belmont also offers new opportunities in the area of product presentation. In the showroom, customers, business contacts, and partners can take a close look at Henderson’s various systems and applications. This makes the technical capabilities of the products literally tangible and creates space to discuss solutions for a wide range of applications and projects. “Especially with sliding and folding door systems, it’s valuable to experience how a system works,” says Van den Biggelaar. “In the showroom, we can not only demonstrate solutions but also explain how technology, ease of use, and design come together.”

Revamped website

In the Netherlands, Henderson is taking the next step with a revamped website, featuring a clearer layout, more information about products and applications, and an improved search function. An online store has also been added. “For us, it’s important that customers can not only find a product, but above all, the right solution for their project,” says Van den Biggelaar. “The new website supports that. We want to share our knowledge and help customers make the right choices as early as the design phase.”

Larger Doors with Husky Pro XL

One of the new solutions Henderson has introduced to meet changing design needs is the Husky Pro XL in-wall installation kit. The system was developed for larger sliding doors and is suitable for doors up to 2,600 millimeters high and 1,200 millimeters wide. This makes it the largest in-wall sliding door system in the Henderson lineup. The system supports wall thicknesses of 115, 120, and 125 millimeters and can be installed in approximately 30 minutes. An optional wood trim kit ensures a clean, finished look. For added comfort, a dual soft-close mechanism is available, allowing the door to open and close smoothly and quietly.

“Architecture increasingly calls for large openings and maximum flexibility,” says Van den Biggelaar. “With Husky Pro XL, we make larger sliding doors possible without compromising on ease of use or aesthetics.”

Trusted expertise, new possibilities

With the move to Belmont, the new showroom and testing facility, the revamped website, and new product solutions, Henderson is firmly looking ahead. The location may be changing, but the core remains the same: technical expertise, reliable products, and a commitment to quality.
