Renewed warranty label for the wood door industry

New, more compact jacket for trusted tool in door identification

For several decades, GND Garantiedeuren's warranty labels have been a familiar landmark on wooden doors in the Netherlands. What once began as a tool to obtain simple information about manufacturer, stability class, burglar resistance and the KOMO seal of approval, grew over the years into a unique and valued system that cleverly combined professional ease of use and valuable lifetime information. Last January, GND took the next step in door identification. With the introduction of a renewed and more compact guarantee label, the organization is aiming for more recognizability, even higher quality and future-proof information.

After GND introduced a uniform label for wooden interior and exterior doors in 2012, this was followed 4 years later by the launch of a handy QR code that gave users instant insight into fire, smoke and burglary resistance. When sound resistance and insulation values were added a little later, the scan function grew into a highly valued tool for project managers, inspectors, contractors and building owners. “By the end of 2025, more than 1.5 million GND-labeled doors will have been delivered in the Netherlands,” said Henk Breel, director of the umbrella body of renowned Dutch wood door manufacturers. “Currently, some 2,250 doors are scanned every month. The warranty label stands for ultimate ease of use and easily provides highly reliable information. The new version is the result of purposefully responding to market demands and incorporating new laws and regulations.”

Performance mapping

The GND warranty label differs from labels, such as CE and KOMO, in that it focuses not only on product quality upon delivery, but rather on the entire lifetime of a door. From production to disposal, its performance is recognizable and traceable. Wherever the door is located. Very convenient, especially for building owners, inspectors and parties that are highly committed to circularity. “The traceability makes it simple to determine the value of materials and the reuse potential,” Breel explains. “At the same time, the quality basis remains firmly anchored in the BRL guidelines. All functional performance is guaranteed on the basis of individual test certificates and classification reports from the member door manufacturers.”

Real value

With the new warranty label, the wood door industry is ready for the future, that much is clear. “Thanks to the combination of practical experience, uniform quality assurance and digital transparency, we give the entire construction chain more security,” Breel believes. “From early design to reuse. The GND label is no longer a small sticker, but adds real value. In every stage of a door's life.”
