The eighteenth edition of the annual publication of VMRG, the trade association for metal facade construction, has been published. Façades 2026 brings together inspiring projects in which craftsmanship, innovation and aesthetics come together. Designs that shape the streetscape and skyline of today, but take into account the world of tomorrow. Common denominator of all these projects are the facades in which durable aluminum and steel play the leading role.
Metal has a long lifespan and is 100% and infinitely recyclable while maintaining quality. A large percentage of the façade metal used already comes from recycled materials. This is why metal fits so well with circular building designs.
Marlène H.M.T. Volf, Chief Corporate & Legal Affairs Officer at Louwman, received the first copy of Façades 2026 from VMRG Director Henk Zoontjens.
The cover of Façades 2026 features The Dome, in Raamsdonksveer. It is an iconic geodesic dome designed by legendary American architect and inventor Richard Buckminster Fuller. The building serves as the headquarters and showroom of Louwman & Parqui, the official importer of Toyota and Lexus in the Netherlands. A feature of the Dome is its impressive, spherical volume. Fuller is known for these geodesic designs, which allow maximum spans without using supporting pillars.
Marlène Volf of Louwman comments: “I am very proud that our project has been selected for the cover of this book. This is a building where design and engineering come together. The renovation required great precision, especially with the slender aluminum profiles and special geometry. That this project is now on the cover highlights what you can achieve together when craftsmanship and innovation reinforce each other.”
Façades 2026 consists of over 200 pages of diverse façade construction projects in which VMRG companies have been involved. The book is divided into non-residential construction, residential construction, renovation, transformation and solar projects. Each project indicates whether the project was realized under the VMRG Quality Mark. All companies with this quality mark deliver guaranteed quality in the field of facades. They are regularly inspected for this, both in the factory and on the building site. The European tendering directives offer scope to prescribe the VMRG Quality Mark in specifications. Every company with the VMRG Quality Mark is awarded an annual VMRG Quality Mark certificate after the inspections have been passed, so that a client can be certain that the company meets the high standards of the VMRG Quality Requirements and Recommendations.
At Facades 2026 diverse articles offer in-depth insight into current themes within the metal facade industry, such as circularity, innovation, regulations and the application of new materials and techniques. Contributions from experts and practical examples from completed projects show how the industry is continuously working to improve quality and sustainability.
The book is also online view. The online version contains links for each project to more information about the project and about the company that was involved in that project.
