‘Tight lintel finish defines appearance of window frame’

With more than fifty years of experience in extruding plastic profiles, CF Plastic Profiles has become an important partner for the window, door and sun protection industry. Based in Gramsbergen, the company develops and produces solutions for frame systems and blinds that are used throughout Europe.

An important spearhead is the day side finishing of plastic and aluminum window frames. “A tight lintel finish is an important part of the interior finish and largely determines the appearance of each window frame,” says David Houtman, account manager Benelux.

CF Plastic Profiles supplies a wide range of daylight edge profiles from stock, including corner profiles, chamber profiles and room corner profiles. These are extruded in various colors and designs, such as variants with wood-grain and textured foils and various plain and design foils. As a result, the sash trim fits well with a variety of frame systems and interior styles.

Hard PVC

Hard PVC is deliberately chosen for lintels. “The material is dimensionally stable, easy to process and excellently resistant to moisture,” Houtman explains. “As a result, day edges remain neat and taut even in intensively used rooms.” In addition, the longevity of the material plays an important role.

“Plastic building profiles have a functional lifetime of at least 30 to 40 years,” he continues. “Moreover, PVC can be recycled up to seven times in high quality without significant degradation of its technical properties. This creates a material stream that remains usable for a very long time.”

Closed material cycle

To meet the growing demand for sustainable building materials, CF plastic profiles is committed to a closed material cycle. Residual material from production is processed in the company's own crushing plant into regenerate that is reused in the production process. In addition, the company uses high-quality recyclate from regular raw material suppliers. In fact, the proportion of recycled material in the profiles more than tripled last year.

Customer-specific solutions

In addition to standard products, customization plays an important role. CF Plastic Profiles' database contains more than 2,000 standard profiles and a total of over 6,000 moulds. Especially in the shading market and in complex facade solutions, the power of customer-specific solutions comes to the fore. Among other things, the company develops cloth welding profiles, side guide profiles, tendons and cloth shells for indoor and outdoor awnings.

“About 4,000 of our dies are customer-specific,” Houtman concludes. “Our in-house tool shop develops some 75 new tools every year in close cooperation with customers. By thinking along from the design stage and working with high-quality plastics and strictly controlled production processes, we deliver profiles that are technically correct and look sleek.”
