Innovative solutions are needed to properly maintain all buildings and (corporation) housing in the future. Together with 39 public and private parties, VMRG, OCTO and Aeroscan are developing the 'Façade Service Application' (FaSA); a platform that innovates the physical real estate market by using digital means such as sensors, drones and artificial intelligence. The Municipal Executive of The Hague has decided to subsidize this project from the 'Kansen voor West' grant program.
This application not only maps the current condition of buildings, but also predicts future maintenance using smart algorithms. The corporations involved in the development of FaSA see the application as a way to increase the affordability of homes due to lower maintenance costs. In addition, according to the facade industry, the technology makes it possible to more accurately determine the value of properties over a longer period of time. This is important for reusing products and raw materials in a circular economy.
The municipality of The Hague is pleased with the cooperation of educational institutions from this region. Alderman Bruines of the municipality of The Hague: "Innovative startups that not only think about technological progress, but also look at the impact of innovation on a better world are very inspiring. FaSA has involved education at an early stage in order to find a better connection between a changing labor market - due to digitalization, for example - and the necessary innovation within education. The whole city can benefit from this."
In the Kansen voor West grant program, the four major cities (Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht) and the Randstad provinces (North and South Holland, Utrecht and Flevoland) have joined forces to make the Randstad one of the economically strongest metropolitan regions in Europe. The Opportunities for West grant comes from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
