Frame industry innovates and innovates; Realwood film® is hot

Realwood film^® is gaining unprecedented popularity in the Netherlands. In a nutshell, its biggest advantage is best described as a wood grain film that looks even more like wood than traditional wood grain films. Realwood has the real wood grain, while traditional wood grain films have pits. The market is discovering this film more and more, creating an inspiring form of innovation in the market.

So there is no shortage of enthusiasm and seeing commercial opportunities. Floor Vogel sees himself as a true ambassador. He is from Reelwood BV, which was created through a good cooperation with Kufa Raamsystemen from IJmuiden, and explains that the films for the profiles are coated by Colormatics in Belgium. "The interesting thing is that they stand for an insured warranty of no less than 10 years there. That's a nice starting point to start from anyway. And, if non-standard colors are requested, Colormatics is an absolute ally for us because even then they can develop and deliver in line with the market. Moreover, there is always a fast delivery time. This ultimately allows us to provide all types of coverings for the panels. This obviously offers plenty of opportunities for the future."

In the years that Reelwood has been operating in the market, and talking to many customers, the move to broaden the product range can now also be made.

Unlimited range of colors

Says Floor Vogel, "Colormatics, a specialist in customization, is engaged in covering plastic and aluminum profiles and panels with a colored film for us, among other things. The profiles and panels are intended for both exterior and interior applications such as windows and doors. I particularly like the unlimited range of colors; there are more than 200 different colors and wood patterns. So plenty of choice. Colormatics is also able to give each profile type a color or motif. Both wood grain and flat textures can be applied."

Craftsmanship

The production process is also at a high level. Floor: "Staining window profiles and door profiles is a process that requires expertise and craftsmanship. After preheating and treating the profile with a primer, PUR adhesive is applied using a complex flat-sheet-die technology. The adhesive product is a top-quality PUR hot-melt adhesive with RAL certification. The production line's estimated 120 pressure rollers ensure crease- and bubble-free application of the decorative film. If additional protection is required, it is also possible to apply a UV-resistant protective film to the coating film."

"For later traceability, each coated profile is labeled with all production details. Of course, tensile strength tests are carried out regularly for quality purposes."
