On a unique spot on the Hogeweg of Burgh-Haamstede, bordering on nature reserve the Kop van Schouwen and on the site of a former riding school, four-star Boutique Hotel Ter Zand will be realized in 2020 and 2021. The small-scale luxury hotel accommodates 53 hotel suites, 32 detached Garden Suites and a spacious lounge with breakfast room and is a sister to the Grand Hotel Ter Duin located further away. While the Garden Suites are inspired by the landscape, the two main buildings are executed in historicizing architecture with a modern twist....
The four-star hotel was designed by Kort Geytenbeek Architects BNA. Van den Nieuwendijk Bouw was responsible for the realization. On behalf of this contractor, Goemaat produced, delivered and assembled® 118 plastic window and door frames for both main buildings. For the dormer window frames, turn-tilt frames were mostly chosen, says Pieter-Jan van Halum, Manager of Work Preparation, Project Management and Assembly at Goemaat®. "In total, we supplied 54 tilt-turn frames with windows, 58 tilt-turn windows and 8 tilt-turn doors, as well as 20 frames with fixed glass. In addition, 43 door frames with a total of 79 doors were installed on the balconies and first floors. In addition, model frames were installed in several places. In short: in this work, our entire frame range comes together harmoniously."
Goemaat® has specialized in the production, delivery and installation of all types of glass and window frames made of plastic and aluminum. From its branches in Goedereede, Oud-Gastel and Goes, new construction and renovation projects are taken up throughout the southwestern Netherlands, Van Halum explains. "Many of our projects are located on the coast, which places special demands on wind and water loads. In addition, we have to deal with salty sea air here, which can cause metal parts to rust and corrode. The products must be able to withstand this! To guarantee excellent corrosion resistance, we work with SIEGENIA's tilt-and-turn hardware as standard. This hardware is distinguished by its durable quality and maximum operating comfort. In addition, perfect adjustment and tightness of the tilt and turn windows are guaranteed. Even when wind and rain are on the façade, the tilt and turn windows are perfectly watertight."
Boutique Hotel Ter Zand in Burgh-Haamstede is located on the Zeeland island of Schouwen-Duiveland, where the above conditions certainly apply as well. Various product combinations with locking bowls, strikers and scissors from the SIEGENIA Titan AF series were used in this project; a series distinguished by flexible integration, high-quality materials, high functionality and an excellent resistance class. Van Halum: "What we added to this is the summer/winter mode. Because most guests want to bring more outside air inside in the summer months than in the winter, two opening positions are possible by means of a pawl in the tilt-and-turn frame."
At the basis of all plastic window frames is a recessed Veka profile with HVL (wood-look) joints, Van Halum explains. "Veka Softline 82 NL RETRO was chosen, which combines a classic look with optically straight stiles and a sloping lower sill with modern comfort. Where skylights above the doors and rods in the windows contribute to the desired historic architecture, a special ultra-matte film in graphite black provides the modern finishing touch. The weak gloss creates the impression of steel, but with all the advantages of plastic. For example, high insulation value, favorable price and minimal maintenance." The inside of the window frames are finished in basic smooth white, matching the fresh and light beach atmosphere of the hotel rooms.
The plastic window frames were manufactured and supplied by the Goemaat® factory in Goedereede. "The challenge was particularly in the large quantity of doors that had to be produced in the foreseeable future," Van Halum explains, "but also in the assembly of the door frames of the balconies, which fall into the sloping roof, as it were. By inserting the frames into the recesses at an angle using a crane, we overcame this challenge and were able to secure a damage-free assembly."
Following on from the plastic window frames, Goemaat® also supplied the aluminum entrance doors for the Boutique Hotel. The Aluk Triton automatic sliding doors are also finished in graphite black (RAL9005 textured) and produced at the factory in Oud-Gastel.
