Manufacturer of plastic window frames fully opts for revolutionary fiberglass technology

Production efficiency, ergonomics and strong performance decisive

"We can produce faster because we need fewer profiles and reduce the number of operations in the factory. Working with lighter elements also facilitates assembly and lightens the load on hardware." It is the answer at Maas-Jacobs Kunststof Kozijnen BV in Zundert when we ask why they pull the card of Deceuninck's ThermoFibra technology. Besides the ease of processing, the design and high insulation values also played an important role in their choice of this glass fiber technology.

Maas-Jacobs' strength stems from the expertise of and cooperation between its three sister companies: a construction company, a project development/real estate department and a production of plastic window frames. The company has been building and developing diverse projects for more than 45 years. Thanks to the craftsmanship and experience of its employees, it also produces and assembles high-quality Deceuninck plastic frames, windows and doors itself. These are produced in a modern production line according to the KOMO certification standards and integrated into new construction and renovation projects by VKG-certified fitters.

Pioneer in fiber optics

"People want to live and work comfortably, not too cold in winter, not too hot in summer. Windows and doors play a crucial role in this. For each specific project, we therefore work with the architect and builder to find a solution that meets their needs and fits perfectly with the architectural style in terms of design, color and structure. For the production of energy-efficient frames, windows and doors, Maas-Jacobs has been using Deceuninck profiles since the establishment of our factory more than 40 years ago," says director Erik Bosters.

"We are a pioneer in our industry, because we were one of the first on the Dutch market to choose profiles with glass fibers. That must be about 10 years ago. When Deceuninck proposed the ThermoFibra concept, we were unanimously convinced by the idea of replacing the standard steel reinforcement in the profiles with glass fibers. The multi-chamber system also gave us confidence in this system. We had to replace our tools with solutions to process this glass fiber, but in the end those tools now last longer, saving us costs."

Strong performance, fast processing

Deceuninck developed its unique, innovative ThermoFibra technology in 2012. This involves inserting structural, long glass fibers into the window and door sashes during the extrusion process to replace the standard steel reinforcement. In addition, Forthex, a thermal reinforcement based on steel wire reinforced and recycled PVC rigid foam, was chosen for the frame profile. The Elegant ThermoFibra Inifinity is available in two versions, each with a sash 85 mm deep, combined with a frame of 76 or 115 mm, respectively. The most attractive features for the architect are its strong performance in terms of thermal insulation, acoustics, burglar resistance, wind and water tightness. Finally, the sleek, slim, minimalist design and ease of maintenance also catch the eye of architect and consumer alike.

Director Erik Bosters recommends ThermoFibra for any manufacturer of window frames. Maas-Jacobs was one of the first in the Netherlands to choose profiles with glass fibers.

"These improved insulation values certainly also have their advantages for the projects we realize as real estate developers and contractors. Thanks to this ThermoFibra technology from Deceuninck, we can often save on the number of solar panels or other insulation features. That makes a construction project cheaper. The design also makes the profiles ideal for hybrid projects, where, for example, we use aluminum systems in the plinth and choose plastic on the floors," Erik Bosters explains.

"Still, for us the ease of processing and assembly was the decisive factor. After all, we can work faster because we need fewer profiles to make the windows and doors. Moreover, the number of operations during processing remains limited, since the additional sawing and fixing of the steel reinforcement in the sashes is eliminated and, for example, in the case of doors you don't need a weld-in corner connector. The elements are also lighter, which simplifies assembly and reduces the load on the hardware. Because of its production efficiency, ergonomics and strong performance, I would recommend ThermoFibra from Deceuninck for any window frame manufacturer."
