A glass awning protects the entrance of a building from weather and wind. It also gives the facade of a residential or commercial building a sleek and modern look. G-Fittings' range includes a series of stable and durable solutions in different versions: with point holders and tubular supports, stainless steel tie bars or cantilevered without a frame. The specialist is now expanding that portfolio with FARINA, a self-supporting glass canopy without interfering tie rods.
G-Fittings has had a strong reputation for more than 20 years when it comes to fittings used in systems and doors in glass. However, the family-owned company from Emmerich am Rhein, Germany, has significantly expanded its product portfolio. “Among other things, we added glass wall and door systems and a glass sliding stacking wall, as well as a wide range of glass canopies. These provide protection from weather and wind. They are used as a roof at the entrance to a store, restaurant or office, at a bus stop or bicycle shed, on a terrace or balcony, ....,” says sales manager Martin Hohmann.

“Our range includes several types: Gilla with point holders and tubular supports in V2A stainless steel, Dittie with point holders and tie rods made of stainless steel and the self-supporting Sophia and Nane without frame. While with the Sophia awning a projection of 1300 mm is possible the Nane in turn provides a load capacity of up to 3.8 kN/m². This system is available in different versions: with a length of 1500 or 3000 mm and cut to size on request, with a projection of up to 1200 mm, silver matt anodized or raw, but optionally in RAL colors.”

Product management is not resting on its laurels and continues to optimize and expand the portfolio. The latest addition is called Farina and is a self-supporting glass awning without interfering tie rods, with the load being absorbed entirely by the wall profile. This creates a minimalist appearance.
“Farina is designed for high loads up to 9.81 kN/m². The system is available with different projections depending on the glass thickness. For example, you get a maximum projection of 1300 mm with 17.52 mm thick glass, while a glass thickness of 21.52 mm or 25.52 mm allows a projection of up to 1600 mm. The fact that no recesses are required for the edges of that glass means a great technical advantage, which simplifies planning and ordering considerably,” Martin Hohmann explains.

“This low-maintenance glass canopy is available in different versions: raw, silver matte anodized, in white (RAL 9010) or deep black (RAL 9005) and even in other RAL colors. The system can be ordered in lengths of up to 6000 mm, cut to size upon request. Thanks to the modular design, several profiles can be mounted one after the other, allowing even very long glass fronts to be created. Installation is very simple. It is carried out using a clamping profile with hidden screws. Once the glass is aligned, aluminum cover caps with ‘snap-fit’ are mounted. Thus, no heads of screws are visible. Optionally, Farina can also be equipped with an LED strip. In this case, the cable guide is discreetly concealed in the profile. This cantilevered glass canopy without disturbing tie rods therefore combines aesthetics and functionality in one product.”
