Tilt-up windows in triangular shape electrically open? No problem!

A family in Friesland can breathe a sigh of relief and that too with fresh air from outside. The homeowners had a skylight installed in their house, with architecturally designed skylights. Triangular in shape, tilting inward. The controls had not yet been considered; that the windows sat too high for manual operation was a given. In the search for a comfortable, electric method of operation, the residents discovered that this was no easy task. After hearing "unfortunately" repeatedly, they finally turned to Teleflex. Jesse Verheem of Teleflex explains, "The request was to be able to open and close the special windows electrically, with a remote control. Because of the complexity of the situation, we first went on site to take a look, after which we came up with the solution."

Linear window opener

Jesse continues: "The challenge with the triangular windows was in the mounting method. A chain opener was not an option because it is mounted horizontally. With our S80 linear opener, which is normally used for roof windows, it was possible. This electric opener is equipped with a stainless steel rod and the mounting is vertical. An additional advantage for inward opening windows is that the S80 is water and dust tight with an IP68 rating. Together with the stainless steel rod, the whole forms a high quality system, ideal for the four folding windows in the skylight. In the case of this Frisian customer, we opted for an opener that can open the window 40 cm, but the S80 is also available in versions with openings of 60, 80 or 100 cm. Our radio unit with remote control provides remote control."

Customer response

The customer in question made no bones about it and sent Teleflex the following message: "We had been looking for remote control electric openers for the four windows at height in the skylight for some time. We finally came across Teleflex. Right from the first contact they understood our problem with the triangular windows tilting back inward. After reviewing the situation at our location, the solution was quickly found. Our contact with both our contact person and the extremely knowledgeable technician was extremely pleasant. We are very pleased with the end result, Teleflex, thanks for everything!"
