Healthy sports in a healthy indoor environment

Healthier exercise in a healthy indoor environment

Especially in today's times, the need for fresh air in public spaces needs no further explanation. Especially in gymnasiums the entry of fresh air is indispensable, because performances are performed there. This is where the shoe pinches in many sports facilities: who does not know them, those high-set pop-out windows, whose operation is difficult or even broken or absent after years of use? As a result, the windows remain closed. However, there is a brilliant solution to keep the threshold as low as possible when it comes to opening these types of windows. A sports hall complex in Eindhoven didn't waste any time and called on Teleflex for help. Jesse Verheem of Teleflex explains.

Radio control with a handheld transmitter is also possible.

Easily control via smartphone

"In Eindhoven, we equipped seven sports halls with our C20 electric window controls. A characteristic feature is the control via wifi: the windows can simply be operated via an app on the phone. This eliminates any reason to leave the windows closed. Those who do not want to install an app can opt for the optional wifi remote control," says Verheem.

The app is free to download and assigned individuals can access the sports facility's account. "Teleflex arranges the connection for this," explains Verheem. "Think, for example, of granting operating privileges to sports teachers, janitors and the management of the complex. Through the app, you can very easily 'swipe' a window open." Intermediate positions are programmable, for example open, closed, half-closed or a quarter open.

The C20, which is simple and affordable, was chosen along with the new Wi-Fi option.

Automation pays off

The reason for the sports complex to choose automated windows was because they did not yet have an opening system, Verheem concludes. "After initial contact, we went to Eindhoven to take stock of the situation and offer advice. In the end, they chose the C20, which is simple and affordable, combined with the new Wi-Fi option that comes with it. By the way, this motor can also be used with a traditional 220V Venetian blind switch or with a transmitter with radio signal."

In the case of the sports halls in Eindhoven, these are high-pitched expansion windows.

In the case of the gymnasiums in Eindhoven, these are high-pitched expansion windows. "The beauty of working with the app is that group control can be done. That way you can provide an entire hall with fresh air at once. That removes another barrier to opening the windows. Looking at the 'Fresh Schools' concept, we see that good ventilation is a prerequisite. The accessibility of window controls is then crucial. Even more advantages of this system: old-fashioned louver switches often incur damage during sports, when a ball hits them, for example. Manual controls are seen as inconvenient and often get stuck, due to improper use. With the C20 with Wi-Fi control or radio control, you don't have these problems. It works quickly, efficiently and safely."
