Autumn storms up to wind force 9 and above, for example, cause front doors, patio doors and also industrial doors to suffer. Doors can open (too) fast, which results in annoying damage to doors, hardware and/or walls. You can probably imagine the situation: just after the completion of your beautiful new building or home, the first storm knocks the entrance door out of your hands. Then the door bangs violently against the wall, resulting in a damaged door, a damaged wall and, with a bit of bad luck, damaged glass. A shame and unnecessary, says Harry Werkman, commercial director at DICTATOR Productie BV. "In fact, by placing a door restrictor on the door (or window) from the start, such problems can easily be prevented."

Attractive alternative to a storm chain

The DICTATOR door opening restrictor is an aesthetically pleasing alternative to a storm chain and ideally suited as protection for doors that open too quickly due to wind, drafts or simply swinging out of someone's hands, Werkman emphasizes. "The limiter limits the opening speed and opening angle of the door. This creates a controlled opening of the door and prevents damage to hardware or wall. An additional advantage is that the door can be opened with minimal effort. At a normal opening speed, you hardly notice that a limiter has been applied."

Mounting kits

DICTATOR door opening restrictors are often used for exterior doors in windy environments, but they can also be used in other situations. For the most common door situations, DICTATOR Productie BV offers three mounting sets to mount the door opening restrictor in the correct way and position.

"This mounting is at least as important as the operation of the door opening restrictor itself," Werkman emphasizes. "After all, users gain nothing if so much force is applied to the mounting points during an autumn storm that the screws are still pulled out of the door and previously mentioned damage occurs."

Especially for application on plastic or aluminum doors, DICTATOR Productie BV offers special mounting sets/fixing consoles, which are supplied on request. As an additional option, a fixing can also be integrated to mechanically secure the door in open position. "Another interesting option is to combine the door opening restrictor with a door closer. This is ideal, for example, if the door should also close again quietly and of its own accord after controlled opening."

NEW: painted door limiters

Where previously DICTATOR Productie BV's door opening restrictors were supplied galvanized as standard, now, thanks to a new, in-house paint shop in Berlin, painted versions are also available. "Thanks to our own paintshop, we can deliver an optimal quality painted products, with excellent and proven corrosion protection," said Werkman. "In addition, we are more flexible in how much and what we produce, and delivery times are also shorter. As standard, the door opening limiters are supplied in RAL 9006 (clear aluminum). In addition, so-called preferred colors are available, such as RAL 7016 (anthracite gray), RAL 7040 (window gray), RAL 9005 (jet black), RAL 9007 (gray aluminum color) and RAL 9016 (traffic white)."
