Modular cylinder system - Few parts, many variants and maximum security

"There were already several modular systems from different manufacturers on the market," explains Michael Weidenbach, head of product management cylinders at WILKA Schließtechnik GmbH. "Our goal was to make the WILKA Modular System particularly stable and it had to be assembly-friendly. We successfully achieved this." WILKA's modular system was also able to meet the highest SKG security requirements shortly after its market launch.

The WILKA system achieves the high stability in part by positioning the fastening parts on the side. "The lateral attachment is unique on the market," says the enthusiastic product manager. "As is the very small number of parts required in the WILKA Modular System to achieve all cylinder lengths," adds Michael Weidenbach.

"This allows the dealer to significantly reduce his inventory."

With only 4 different bridge parts and housing extensions, the cylinder can be converted to the desired length using WILKA's modular system. The basic length of 30/30 mm can be extended on both sides in 5-mm increments to a cylinder length of 90/90 mm. A modular bridge made of stainless steel provides additional protection against violent breaking and core withdrawal of the cylinder.

By adding or removing individual components, modular cylinders can be adapted to different door situations. This facilitates the use or replacement of cylinders, especially in situations where the cylinder length is not known in advance, such as emergency openings, service work or new locking systems. "Particularly practical," says Weidenbach. "Our modular system is not limited to a specific product line. All WILKA locking cylinders are modular."
