A tough, slim and future-proof window frame from Hengevelde

Anyone who thinks that energy-neutral building stands in the way of the application of architectural window frames is wrong. As previously reported in Profiel, HEBO Kozijnen from Hengevelde has been working towards sustainable construction for a very long time. This is all based on the expertise and vision built up over 40 years of enterprise. Norbert Kuipers, director and owner of HEBO Kozijnen, shows us the newly developed Thermo-System 80×114 SMALL.

"The idea behind the development of this tough, slim frame is to be able to offer an architectural window frame that fully meets the requirements for window frames in 2020," Kuipers opens the conversation.

Love for the wood-aluminum frame

The Thermo SMALL frames are wood-aluminum frames, a real hobbyhorse of HEBO. "We developed this product out of love for the combination of wood and aluminum. SMALL obviously stands for slim, even the glass doesn't betray whether you're dealing with a hinged part or a fixed window. This creates an aesthetic unity in the facade appearance, which is unprecedented so far," Kuipers continues. "This window frame offers many possibilities and advantages. For example, you can choose to keep the window frame in sight, or, on the contrary, have it disappear for the most part behind the wall. The outside of the turning/turning window frames, with a shell of aluminum, looks hip and sleek, while the inside, made of wood, gives a rustic and cozy look. With a fixed glass window frame, the aluminum shell is not present."

No glass frames in sight

The absence of glass frames, both inside and outside, creates a very elegant finish. Says Kuipers, "Not only is this very aesthetically pleasing, it also contributes to the low maintenance factor associated with these window frames. There is no need for sealant or painting on the outside. When Accoya wood or Finti Wood is chosen, the wood also has no action. A stable, sleek and leading frame is then the end result, allowing for energy efficient construction. The longer lifespan allows beautiful, darker colors to be applied to the wood."

Thermo SMALL window frames are HEBO's answer to the demand for maintenance-free window frames with a modern appearance. The insulation values that can be achieved depend on the glazing used and the specific design of the window frame. "The values range from 0.85 W/m² For a Thermo SMALL fixed glass frame in meranti, with a triple glazing 4-14-4-15-4 mm up to and including 1.2 W/m² for an aluminum/meranti version in 114 mm wood, with triple glazing 4-14-4-15-4 mm," Kuipers said.  "With Finti and Accoya, the window frames come to UW of 0.78 W/m²."
