Simplicity of form combined with top performance

Reynaers recently launched a new window and door system with the Masterline 8, which was to succeed part of the successful Concept System (CS). That succession is now in full swing, architects have discovered the system's strong qualities and included them in their specifications.

"You would say that such a system could sell itself just fine," says Cristian Gordon, technical advisor to Reynaers. "It meets the highest requirements in terms of comfort, safety and stability. You can use it to make window frames with an insulation value (Uf) from 0.9 W/m²K, the system is available in different burglar resistance classes (class 2 and 3), and the extra-thick profile chambers allow you to make narrow window sashes up to 2.20 meters high."

And there is more: for example, if the sash is not precisely adjusted during installation, which is not inconceivable, the window still has a very good air and water tightness. Gordon: "This is due to the rubber seal that presses against the sash. With Masterline, this overlap is 5 millimeters. For facade builders and ultimately the end users, this is important."

Insulation values

Another strength is the excellent insulation value of the profiles, which can reach 0.9 W/m²K. Gordon: "Masterline 8 is in fact three systems in one: the Masterline 8 Standard is similar to the CS 77-HI, the Masterline 8-HI replaces the CS86-HI and the Masterline 8-HI+ replaces the CS 104-HI.

The great thing is that both the "standard" and the HI and HI+ have exactly the same dimensions, the only difference is the insulation value. For the standard, the Uf value averages 1.9, with the HI a foam provides a U value averaging 1.5, and the HI+, in addition to a foam, has Reyn insulators that provide a U value averaging 1.1. All that is tucked away in an ingenious profile 7.7 inches deep, rounded to 8 gives the profile system its name. That profile depth also makes the system very suitable for triple glazing.

Tall windows, strong doors

"As for the rigidity of the Masterline Series we also took a hit," Gordon continued. "The inner chambers of the window sashes have been given a thicker wall, so we can deliver narrow window sashes up to 2.20 meters high, whereas the older series only went up to 1.75 meters high. That means more design freedom with larger windows and still narrow views. New is the Masterline Balcony Door. These rebated doors are still completely wind and watertight at 600 Pascal, which is wind force 11. This is better than the results with the well-known flat doors. Buildings are getting taller and storms are becoming more frequent, so this is definitely relevant."

Presentations

Cristian Gordon gives presentations to facade builders in the Netherlands about Masterline 8. "I tell them everything they want to know about Masterline, what to look out for when assembling and mounting and what machines we have developed specifically for this system. Most facade builders have CNC machines. We have developed punching machines especially for the Masterline with which you can make holes and slots in the profiles faster. That saves a lot of time when you are turning larger volumes. And for smaller facade builders it is interesting because with these punching machines they do not need a large CNC machine."
