Scaffold safety is becoming increasingly important

Attention to safety when working at height
Those who work at heights must be able to do so safely. That is why in recent years much attention has been paid to the safety of workers working on the roofs of buildings, mobile scaffolding or other high places. Every year, an average of 35 accidents occur in which people are injured when using mobile scaffolding. This results in several deaths and serious injuries. Research has shown that these accidents could often have been prevented if scaffolding was used more safely and carefully. So it was time for targeted action. And that came, via the Inspectorate SZW.

Important regulatory changes since 2018
To make the erection and use of mobile scaffolding safer, the Inspectorate SZW set to work on new regulations around mobile scaffolding. After employers and employees sat around the table in 2016, new regulations around mobile scaffolding came into effect and have been required by law since Jan. 1, 2018. What are the main changes in the rules around mobile scaffold use? The biggest change is the requirement that before the person using a mobile scaffold enters a new platform, fall-railings must be installed at hip and knee height to prevent falls. The scaffolding at Scaffolding for little.com meet these requirements. There are also new requirements when it comes to the erection of scaffolding, where scaffolding may or may not be located and the attachment of rolling scaffolds to the properties being worked on.

Sampling by Inspectorate SZW
By means of spot checks, the Inspectorate SZW checks whether the new rules, which are required by law, are applied by the users of mobile scaffolds - particularly construction companies and cleaning firms. If this is not the case, (construction) projects can be halted or fines will be issued. Therefore, it is important to know the new regulations well and adhere to them both when renting scaffolding as an individual, but certainly also as a contractor or contractor in a company context. In this way, you will avoid high fines and loss of money due to construction projects coming to a halt.
