During the twentieth edition of the ARCHITECT@WORK fair in Kortrijk Xpo last May 11 and 12, it was already showing off extensively in booth 261: the GEALAN Hafen-City-Fenster®, the new window system for perfect sound insulation as well as ventilation from GEALAN. By presenting this novelty, the company proves once again that as a leading developer and manufacturer of plastic profiles, it is constantly improving and innovating.
The new invention GEALAN Hafen-City-Fenster® comes into its own especially in inner-city residential locations. Places where, despite increased noise emissions, the end user does not want and cannot do without the benefits of natural ventilation. "The shortage of good building locations has led to the development of this concept," says Bas van den Eerenbeemt, system consultant within GEALAN Netherlands. "It means that from now on homes can be developed on sites that are already very densely built on and where the noise limit of 57 decibels at the facade is exceeded. In such situations, the GEALAN Hafen-City-Fenster® applicable. The system reduces noise so residents can live and ventilate comfortably. Because the noise reduction is created inside the system, the architect maintains his facade appearance. The exterior façade frame can be any GEALAN system: base, haax, styl, slim or fine. This ensures that the project does not have to go back to the building code departments; the facade appearance remains the same. The perfect solution for resident, architect and government!"
Hardly any noise pollution and still plenty of fresh air. That's what the brand new window system from GEALAN stands for. "Both with closed and partially opened windows, GEALAN Hafen-City-Fenster offers® exceptionally good sound insulation," Van den Eerenbeemt confirms.
"At the same time, enough fresh oxygen can enter the home from outside. The secret lies in the smart tilt function, with which the system is equipped. When the tilt windows are open, sound insulation of up to 34 decibels is achieved, the highest value determined during certification by IFT Rosenheim. Is the GEALAN Hafen-City-Fenster® closed, then even a noise reduction index as high as 63 decibels can be achieved. A value many times better compared to standard windows fitted with sound insulation glass: these do not exceed
than 48 decibels."
As a combination product of GEALAN S 9000 NL and GEALAN S 9000, the new window system consists of a specially developed frame that connects the two individual elements into one aesthetically pleasing composition. A whole that can also be cleaned smoothly and easily, as both windows have an inward swivel movement.
"In this way, the old principle of the Harbour Window is given a new, modern interpretation," Van den Eerenbeemt said.
"At the same time, we provide developers and architects with a solution that allows modern architecture to be combined with the highest standards of sound insulation and natural ventilation."
