"We are the strategic partner for PVC and aluminum joinery." - that is the message that Deceuninck reinforced at Polyclose. Elegant is proof that these are not empty words. This innovative product platform for plastic window and door solutions combines the revolutionary, universal iCOR building block with various sash designs. Moreover, with Phoenix, Deceuninck also supplies Elegant profiles made from 100 % recycled raw materials.
In 2020, Deceuninck introduced its Elegant platform, the first window system with iCOR as its modular core. This universal building block ensures interchangeability between frames and sashes, resulting in an unprecedented complexity reduction in production and logistics at the manufacturer. Thanks to the modular concept, one frame type also serves as the basis for several sash designs. "Elegant" is based on a Forthex-reinforced frame, available with a depth of 76 or 115 mm. These new frames have a tighter design and the 115mm version is available in a 15° and a 5° design," says technical manager Wouter Vanderstraeten. "To cater to everyone's taste and style, the range includes different wing designs: the rounded Origin with classic look and feel, Abstract with an extremely minimalist look and Infinity with the subtle transition from profile frame to wing. The latter version is also available in a ThermoFibra version, where the steel reinforcement in the sash is replaced by structural glass fibers. Thanks to this technology, we score high in terms of thermal insulation, acoustics, burglar resistance and wind and water tightness. For the Netherlands, we have already received the KOMO seal of approval."
This plastic platform also guarantees perfect synergy with our aluminum offering, as Elegant and Decalu are perfectly matched in look and feel. The shared minimalist design, with for example the rectangular glazing bar, makes Deceuninck a one-stop-shop for both plastic and aluminum. In order to guarantee the same color for all joinery, the manufacturer developed 'Smart Colours', so that the available color coatings for plastic (Decoroc) and aluminum (Aluroc) match each other perfectly. In the spring of 2023, Deceuninck will launch a new color collection, which will include more films with matte textured look and new Woodec wood imitation films with tactile surface texture.
Phoenix made entirely of recycled plastic
At Deceuninck, they also think and act circularly. "Already since 2012 we recycle plastic at our Diksmuide site, where we can process up to 45,000 tons or 2.3 million old windows per year," says Wouter Vanderstraeten. "With Phoenix, for 100 % made from recycled plastic, we proposed a first fully circular range with 13 standard profiles for windows and doors. Several Phoenix projects have already been realized in the Netherlands, where the use of circular materials is strongly promoted. For example, we delivered 30 fully circular Elegant Infinity 115 X window frames for the new school complex of the Aloysius Foundation in Eindhoven."
Partner speaking
The Elegant platform was very well received, including at Braks Kunststoffen B.V. in Uden. "We have been working with Deceuninck since 1985 and have planned to grow even further together in the future. For example, we have commissioned a new warehouse and will soon start the construction of a new production hall, which will significantly increase our capacity and possibilities," says co-owner Rene Vervoort. "The Elegant platform is an ideal successor to the Zendow concept. The renewed profiles with a deeper rebate are even better suited for triple glazing. In addition, the fiberglass-reinforced profiles are light yet sturdy. The aluminum look and the seamless combination of plastic and aluminum in one project open doors with many customers. Production-wise, Deceunick has ensured that we have similar profiles as before, so production and machining are mostly similar."
