VKG Architecture Prize 2025: the nominees are known

The 14th edition of the VKG Architecture Award puts innovative and sustainable applications of plastic window frames in the spotlight. The professional jury has nominated six projects from the many entries. Two winners will be selected from these nominees, one in the new construction category and one in the renovation category. The festive presentation of the VKG Architecture Award 2025 will take place on November 6, during the Climate Summit GO of Duurzaam Gebouwd in the Jaarbeurs Utrecht.

The entries concern projects from residential and commercial construction. The plastic window frame industry is innovating in abundance and is strongly committed to sustainability - exactly the quality the jury is looking for. Extra appreciation goes to entries that create social added value.

New construction

The following projects were nominated in the new construction category:

  • Gas Plant Building X, by Architects Lab with window frames by Aarnink Plastic Frames
  • Residential tower NELSON by Powerhouse, with window frames by WN Plastic Frames
  • King's Park by Prosman de Wit architects + Maccreanor Lavington, with frames by Transcarbo

Renovation

The following projects were nominated in the renovation category:

  • The Lost Bridge by biq architects bv, with window frames from Schipper Kozijnen
  • Peter and Paul by Architectenbureau Dinant, with frames by KUMIJ
  • Statenjachtstraat by Vanschagen Architects, with window frames by Schipper Kozijnen

Expert jury

Images of all nominated projects will be made in the coming period, supported by an explanation by the architect. This will provide nice, complete input for the final judging. The jury consists of former winners Karin Dorrepaal (DOOR Architects) and Merijn de Jong (SOME architects), sustainability experts Wietse Walinga (Duurzaam Gebouwd), Mantijn van Leeuwen (Nibe) and VKG director Albert Zegelaar.

This two-day event (November 5 & 6, 2025) brings together professionals from the construction and sustainability sector, public and private, to take a step together towards tomorrow's sustainably built environment. VKG Hallmark is program partner of this summit.
