Thermo Plastic Elastomer (TPE) offers many advantages as a raw material. Not only can you use it to create the most sophisticated and complex designs, it is also resistant to large temperature differences and weather conditions. The biggest advantage, however, lies in the fact that TPE does not contain chemical components that harm people and the environment.
That very fact makes the material, as an alternative to less environmentally friendly solutions, extremely suitable for circular applications. At DEVENTER Profielen, developer/producer of a wide range of sealing profiles for window and door systems, they know all about it...
DEVENTER Profiles stands for a complete range of sealing profiles made of TPE. For any window and door construction, including customization and frames. Based on personal and expert advice, the company is always able to provide the frame industry with a welcome customized solution around making window and door systems wind-, sound- and watertight, as well as smokeproof and fire-retardant.
DEVENTER profiles have been applied in the Greenhuus ecolodge project.
DEVENTER sealing profiles were deliberately chosen because they are fully consistent with the project being built 100% biobased, autarkic and Cradle to Cradle inspired.
In this regard, the DEVENTER profile design can be considered unique, the tolerance capacity is high and the extensive expertise available is confirmed by various ISO, KOMO and IFT certificates, among others. "Because of the absence of chemical components, our sealing profiles are fundamental within the transition to circular buildings," says Kees Verweel, general manager of DEVENTER Profiles. "That makes them a perfect and, above all, responsible alternative for, among others, frame manufacturers who still work with EPDM. Moreover, we take the environment into sharp consideration during their production and most of the internal residual streams are recycled and reused during the manufacture of new products."
More and more customers are becoming convinced that the Breda-based specialist's sealing profiles are fully compatible with a world focused on sustainability. For example, within the framework of the ecolodge project 'Greenhuus', the environmental aspect was the main reason for choosing DEVENTER's solutions produced from TPE. In addition, the internationally operating Reynaers Aluminium applied DEVENTER profiles during the production of Masterline 8, a new generation of window systems that offers a very high insulation value thanks in part to the central seal. "Our sealing profiles meet the requirements of today's users and processors in every respect," Verweel believes. "In terms of durability as well as application."
Sealing profiles incorporated into the door(s) of Greenhuus. Thanks in part to the seals, the entire window and door system offers a very high insulation value and promotes an optimal indoor climate.
The unique properties and qualities of DEVENTER sealing profiles have meanwhile resulted in ditto rewards. Whereas in 2015 the company already became the world's first - and so far only - profile manufacturer with the Cradle to Cradle product certificate (Basic), in 2017 the step to the coveted Silver certificate was taken for a number of specific products. As of June 24, the Silver recertification is a reality.
"The certificate was awarded to the sealing profiles in the SP, SV and SPV series," Verweel says proudly. "Products that not only provide an optimal seal against wind, water, noise and smoke, they are also easy to install and achieve a pleasant closing pressure. But more importantly, thanks to the absence of chemical components, they fit perfectly with the principles of circular construction. The latter is and remains the main spearhead for us. In everything we do and make."
