FSB 1289 model wins German Design Award 2023

Award-winning design from the FSB house

The design by designers Markus Michalski and Michael Schmidt appeals with its puristic and at the same time contemporary design of the highest production quality. The optically sober and at the same time haptically convincing collection has now been awarded the winner in the category "Excellent Product Design - Building and Elements" by the expert jury of the international architecture and design competition German Design Award 2023. This international top prize is awarded annually by the Design Council with the aim of discovering, presenting and outlining unique design trends.

Starting point for the development of product family FSB 1289 was the desire to create a contemporary design that can be combined with the existing product portfolio through formal continuity yet surprises with special touches. "We wanted to develop a design that does not impose itself but is nevertheless peppered with many details that only become visible in second in-stance or when one starts using them," explains designer Markus Michalski. From the very first sight, the door handle enchants us with its slim, reduced form. When gripped, the wel-finger of the handle caresses the inside of the hand in a pleasant way and makes ergonomic use possible. From a form standpoint, the design by Michalski and Schmidt appeals with its sober but innovati-ve design.

With this combination of striking and clarity, the FSB 1289 model also convinced the expert jury of the German Design Awards, which crowned the design as the winner in the "Excellent Product Design - Building and Elements" category: "The FSB 1289/1290 model appeals with its clear lines and fine formal details that create a pleasant haptic effect and, through this interplay, lend the handle its own timeless, unique identity," according to the jury's assessment.

Since 1953, the Council for Design has operated worldwide as a renowned center of competence for communication and science transfer for design, brand and innovation. The Ger-man Design Award initiated in 2012 is the institute's top international award with the aim of discovering, presenting and drawing out unique design trends. Each year, quality submissions from the world of product and communication design are awarded, all of which in their own way are leading in the international design landscape.

Thus, the FSB 1289 product family was recently awarded the renowned GOOD DESIGN® Award 2022, presented by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Model FSB 1289 was also awarded "Best of Best" in the "Product - Building Technolo-gies" category at the "Iconic Awards 2022: Innovative Architecture" and took 1st place in the online voting for the "bdia ausgesucht!" award. The company Franz Schneider Brakel GmbH + Co KG won gold at "Architects' Darling" in the "Fittings" category and at "Kleiner Gustav" of EBH Euro Baubeschlag Handel AG won the title "le-supplier of the Year" in the "Product Quality" category.
