Smarthome solutions for everyone: 'The smartest lock of the future'

A Dutch startup is currently working feverishly on "The smartest lock of the future. Not just any startup by the way, as there is quite a bit of weight behind it. The mastermind behind the operation? None other than Marijn van der Wal, owner and director of Ankerslot. By the end of 2020, the launch of Den Smart Home's first products should be a reality.

"I do want to emphasize that Ankerslot and Den Smart Home are really two stand-alone companies. Den Smart Home benefits from Ankerslot's know-how, of course," Marijn explains.

Born from a personal passion for technology

Marijn: "With Den Smart Home, I want to offer everyone the opportunity to easily enter the world of automated access control. Isn't it great when you can remotely see who is ringing the doorbell and grant access in a controlled way? Or coming home without a key in your pocket, because you no longer need one. You simply operate the door lock via your smartphone."

With his passion for all things technology came the desire to automate everything around building access. Marijn discovered what barriers stood in the way of this. "Systems currently on the market are marketed as too complicated, whereas in this day and age the idea is to make everything easier. That led me to develop a system the way I would like it myself: stable, secure and easy."

Utilize of existing ditches

Den Smart Home can be simply mounted on (most) existing locks. "The system is easy to expand, for extra security. Adding microphones and cameras is easy; everything works together, via one convenient app," Marijn continued. "The system must offer controlled access to family members, caregivers and delivery services. We therefore like to get in touch with parties who want to cooperate, for example supermarkets, logistics companies et cetera.
Together we are building the 'Den Ecosystem', for greater accessibility and safety."

Currently, Marijn is working with his own team on Den Smart Home, but he says there is room for interested parties to step in: "Whether you're an investor who sees bread in technology of the future, or you're a tech company that thinks it can plug in with its own hardware, you're welcome for a good conversation."
