Living peacefully in a wooded area while enjoying a luxurious and sustainable villa apartment. Residence Erica clearly combines the best of both worlds. In cooperation with Sylvestris Wonen and Van Royen Archiburo, this residential project with eight tasteful BENG apartments came about. Comfort is central to each quality-finished residential unit, which was achieved, among other things, by Duco's user-friendly fabric sunscreens.
On the heath in Waasmunster (BE) amidst a wooded area, this project with eight spacious villa apartments can be found. In the year 2017 the starting shot was given and at the end of 2019 the full completion is foreseen. Architect Johan Van Royen of Archiburo Van Royen J. bvba explains, "For this project we started from the residential concept of Sylvestris Wonen, combining the best of both worlds: the luxury of a villa in nature combined with the comfort of an apartment."
In the context of the BENG story, fabric awnings play a crucial role in the fight against overheating.
A small footprint, great living and respect for nature were the keywords within this project. "After all, it was a matter of being able to ensure maximum forest conservation," indicates the architect. "The interplay of the reddish-brown thin-bed facade brick, the anthracite-colored exterior joinery and the very large expanses of glass created a beautiful whole that is completely embedded in the forest environment."
Large windows demand shielding from the sun's rays to ensure a fresh indoor climate. So cloth sun protection was obvious. "For the exterior joinery, we partnered with Aluminium Foubert," Van Royen says. "The choice for Duco's textile sunblinds DucoScreen Front 150 was made swiftly. After all, this provides you with a lightweight awning that was aesthetically placed, namely invisible in the cavity leaf. In addition, the velligibility with the window profile also came along, which facilitated outside installation."
"We deliberately preferred a solar control fabric with no blackout effect. This way the view of the green landscape is guaranteed," van Royen said.
The architect concludes, "Residence Erica is undoubtedly a unique concept in the region. The majestic apartments full of comfort combined with the way the building is integrated into its surroundings makes this project a haven of tranquility and idyllic beauty."
