Electronic and mechanical locking systems: aesthetic and functional

"The Dutch market demands a product that is SKG-approved, with a fast delivery time, especially in the field of mechanical and electronic locking plans. Such a locking plan can be traditional or mechatronic, or also completed with RFID products, such as card readers and electronic door fittings." Speaking is Marc van Steen, Area Export Manager for Italy-based Iseo Serrature. Iseo is conquering the Dutch market with the above features. They are doing so with a typical Italian flair, where functional and aesthetic features go hand in hand. "Quality and appearance are linked at Iseo, a lot is delivered in metal," Marc explains.

Smart products

Looking at Iseo's offering in electronic products, there is a whole range of Smart products available. Marc explains, "These Smart products are controlled by means of the Iseo Argo app. You can use this app as an administrator and as a user. This app is more for the home user and the smaller company. We recommend managing up to 15 doors with Iseo Argo, with each door being individually programmable. The big advantage is that you have no software and subscription costs and have a very comprehensive user-friendly environment."

Those who like to manage more than 15 doors can use the Iseo V364 system. "That ranges from 15 to thousands of users," Marc explains. "Currently, we at Iseo are working on a unique additional development, which is to be able to manage RFID and F9000 products in one application. The F9000 system consists of mechatronic and mechanical cylinders that can be opened by a mechatronic key. Again, this is a wireless system because the mechatronic cylinder does not require a direct power supply. Retrieval of the access rights for the mechatronic key is done through Bluetooth or through a key validator. In addition, the system will also be able to send mobile keys that allow the user to open RFID doors via their smartphone. Of course, the Iseo V364 system also provides comprehensive monitoring and log data. The rollout of this system will take place in late 2020/early 2021."

A project with 100,000 doors? No problem!

"Our hardware and fittings are developed and manufactured by our own company," Marc continues. "Iseo is originally a manufacturer of cylinders and locks. We have a lot of expertise in-house and do not use third parties. This allows us to be flexible and guarantee quality. It is 100% 'developed and made in Europe'."

Within the same group as Iseo is Locken, which produces its own software. This software communicates with the Iseo hardware. "Locken develops software for very large companies, such as telecom companies, airports, energy companies and water boards. We're talking about projects involving between 5,000 and 100,000 doors. We serve those companies with our hardware and Locken software," said Marc. "At the request of the organization in question, that software can be completely customized. Think, for example, of software for wind farm maintenance engineers. Before the authorization is issued, the software looks at everything: does the mechanic have the right certificates or is it not too windy to work in the windmill, et cetera," Marc concludes. ′
