German window frame manufacturer now produces and supplies aluminum window frames

Manufacturer has been a leader in plastic systems for 45 years in the new year 2022

To respond to market demand, manufacturing companies also need to be able to reinvent themselves from time to time. That's what they did at Gerdes Fenster und Türen recently. The manufacturer has been working with architects, project agencies, architectural consulting firms, housing associations, contractors, dealers and investors on solutions for plastic frames, windows, doors or sliding doors for almost 45 years. Recently, however, the management invested in the construction of a third modern production facility, where Schüco aluminum systems are produced to order. With the German frame manufacturer, you are now at the right place for high-quality plastic as well as aluminum systems: a total package under one roof. The company is also investing in a new production hall next to "Werk 1" in Lengerich.

Plastic and aluminum

Gerdes Fenster und Türen, at almost 45 years a renowned manufacturer of Schüco frames, windows, doors and sliding doors in plastic for projects in Germany and the Benelux. All systems are custom made and especially the elements in the standard colors for the Netherlands are delivered at short notice. Due to an increasing demand from the market, the management decided to expand the offer with Schüco aluminum window frames, made by Gerdes.

However, it is made clear at the manufacturer that they do still remain true to their long-standing core business, supporting customers in word and deed when it comes to plastic frames, windows and doors. A good example: a few weeks ago, Gerdes was the very first Schüco partner worldwide to manufacture an electrically driven lift-and-slide system of the LivingSlide type. The electric lifting and sliding control is integrated invisibly into the profile and the system can thus be easily opened and closed via a switch or an App.

"We had long been receiving demand from the market to also offer aluminum systems. That way our offer would also include a solution for applications with larger windows and fire doors, for example. These are best made of aluminum and we had to outsource this in the past. Therefore, we chose to also manufacture and supply Schüco aluminum window frames. As with the plastic window frames, we can always call on Schüco's expertise," explains sales and marketing manager Benelux Anthonius Gabeler.

"Aluminum is very often used in larger projects, such as schools, hospitals, offices and showrooms, but also for homes with a sleek and modern design, and this in both new construction and renovation. Especially for larger windows, aluminum systems are an ideal solution. They are produced with thermal and sound insulation as desired and supplied in a wide range of different colors. Windows and sliding systems with very slim profiles and doors with a filling according to your wishes are also possible."

In terms of quality, no compromises are allowed

Meanwhile, the focus remains on customers in Germany and Benelux. There are requests from other countries, however, and in time they want to serve these customers as well. Meanwhile, the manufacturer continues to invest in facilities and people. A third plant was commissioned for the production of aluminum systems, where a team led by an experienced business unit manager and a production manager produces aluminum systems according to Schüco's high quality standards.

"To this end, we invested in modern machinery that included a double miter saw and other profile processing machines, which are linked to Schüco's calculation software," indicates the sales and marketing manager.

"In October, we also received the building permit for a new production facility. We can start construction work on the site next to 'Work 1' in Lengerich. This new building will expand our production by 3,700 m². We are also planning 500 m² for offices and social areas. At Gerdes Fenster und Türen there is therefore a healthy ambition to grow further as a company, but this must under no circumstances be at the expense of quality in product and service."
