Deceuninck, specialist in the development and production of plastic and aluminum window and door profiles, and AGC Glass Europe, European leader in flat glass, have signed a strategic partnership. The combination of the know-how and expertise in their respective fields resulted in new innovative solutions, where Fineo vacuum glazing can be integrated into the plastic and aluminum profiles of the Elegant and Decalu series. This gives architects, contractors and building owners access to solutions that meet increasingly stringent requirements in terms of thermal and acoustic performance and light transmission. The first system solutions will be on display at Polyclose on the stands of both strong brands.
Although they have been twins for centuries, until recently windows and glass were two separate worlds. Lately, manufacturers and suppliers of both components are increasingly joining forces to offer high-quality total solutions. "At the end of 2014, we already concluded an agreement with AGC Glass Europe to jointly bring innovative solutions to market. Over the years, we have extended and, above all, strengthened this good cooperation a few times," says Bernard Vanderper, sales manager Western Europe at Deceuninck. "Last October 12, we went one step further with the signing of a strategic partnership, which now allows us to offer the Elegant plastic and Decalu aluminum window profiles also with Fineo vacuum glass. Our R&D department has reworked the sealing concept for these different ranges and adapted it in such a way that we can integrate this ultra-slim glazing into our profiles without losing the unparalleled level of thermal and acoustic insulation and light transmission."
Stefan Lips, Fineo sales director at AGC Glass Europe, adds: "Contemporary architecture is characterized by large areas of glass. To meet the more stringent insulation requirements, we also have to constantly develop our glazing. For example, we have made the step from double to triple glazing. Of course, this has an impact on costs, but above all on the weight of window systems, which is gradually reaching the limits that can be supported by the hardware. In addition, the theme of circularity applies not only to the profiles but also to the glass. With Fineo vacuum glass, we offer a solution from 6 mm thick that is comparable to and even better than triple glazing in terms of characteristics, but with only two sheets. This glazing therefore uses less material, is a lot lighter and is also 100% recyclable."
In recent years, both strong brands have invested heavily in the further optimization of their solutions to constantly respond to market demands. For example, with Elegant, Deceuninck developed an innovative product platform for window and door solutions, with iCOR as the revolutionary building block and modular heart of the profiles. In addition to seals on the inside and outside, this solution also includes a central middle seal, which acts as an additional barrier for heat and cold, among other things. "That way we get better results in terms of thermal insulation, wind and water tightness and acoustics. By combining those profiles with Fineo vacuum glazing, we go one step further," Bernard Vanderper concludes. "We want to inform architects, contractors and building owners about the advantages of these systems. Today the focus is on the Benelux, but other European countries will follow. At Polyclose, the first results of this partnership will be presented at our stands (1400 and 1018) but also at those of AGC Glass Europe (1210)."
