Today's challenge is to design homes according to occupant comfort. And in doing so, overheating indoors is absolutely to be avoided. Renson commits itself to this with a smart total solution of dynamic outdoor shading and intensive ventilation. So even on hot days it is possible to maintain bearable indoor temperatures naturally, without power-hungry air conditioning. It is important to take this into account from the initial design of a home.
Renson launches the Fixscreen Solar: the solar-powered renovation screen
The Fixscreen Solar is a wind-resistant screen to be placed in front of the window. This type of cloth awning works - thanks to a solar cell on the front of the box - on solar energy, without electrical wiring. This means that it can be mounted on any window easily and without breaking work, up to a maximum of 10.8 m². This makes the Fixscreen Solar the perfect solution for renovation or installation on existing homes to prevent overheating indoors in the future.
The compact solar cell can be placed either on the left or right side of the cabinet. The screen comes standard with a radio-controlled motor and the battery is located in a tube profile under the case. Both motor and battery are easily accessible.
Dynamic fabric awnings such as these not only ensure pleasant indoor temperatures in the summer, but at the same time also allow you to continue to save optimally on heating costs in the winter thanks to the sun's ingress.
Preventing overheating: intensive night cooling via burglar-resistant window grilles
Last summer was the finest evidence of how, in energy-efficient homes, it is becoming increasingly challenging to control indoor temperatures during hot periods. Ideally, of course, you want to do that for free. And the good news is that you can. So an expensive air conditioner is not the only solution.
Especially now that the number of hot days per year is rising even more noticeably, the search for alternatives to keep indoor temperatures under control is more 'hot' than ever. Control of incoming sunlight (via dynamic exterior blinds) is one of the efficient solutions, but more is needed to effectively cool the interior as well, namely: night cooling or intensive ventilation via large window grilles. Burglar, water and insect repellent as they are, you can leave them open all night in warm periods without worry. Through those window vents, large amounts of cooler air can help cool the interior at night. When that produces 5 air changes per hour, it can lower the interior temperature by as much as 5 degrees in summer: naturally and for free. The window grilles for intensive night cooling are equipped with a mosquito net and are burglar-resistant.
In any case, it is important for every grille to be constructed and installed in such a way that it is burglar-resistant. Especially in places that are accessible or where there is a handle or lock nearby. Depending on the type and the required class, Renson's built-in grilles are therefore fitted with reinforced stainless steel mounting dowels (RC2) or steel bars to fix them into the wall (RC4) and surface-mounted grilles are mounted with burglar-proof screws. All visible parts of Renson's burglar-retardant grilles are 100% made of aluminum, in order to achieve a sleek aesthetic finish and optimum durability (no corrosion possible).
