‘Always keep thinking about sustainability’

Successful first: first new construction project with CO₂-optimized frame profiles

At the beginning of this year, BAM Wonen delivered the modern new construction project De Bloementuin in Sassenheim. In the middle of the bulb-growing region, 56 comfortable, sustainable and energy-efficient homes were built. Ebbers Kozijnen fitted twenty of these apartments with plastic window frames with CO₂-optimized GEALAN BALANCE profiles, a first.

A step forward in CO₂ optimization

With the BALANCE profiles, GEALAN, a leading manufacturer of frame profiles and systems, takes another step forward in CO₂ optimization. The profile core contains recycled material as standard and the entire process is carried out with green electricity. What is new is the use of bio-attributed PVC in the outer layer of the profile. This PVC is based on partially renewable biomass. The improved use of raw materials ensures a substantial CO₂ reduction, without compromising on quality or performance. 

Joint vision of conscious building

Ebbers Kozijnen is a great advocate of conscious building. They have enjoyed working with GEALAN for many years and share the same vision. “Today you simply have to think about sustainability,” says Maarten Ebbers, director of Ebbers Kozijnen. “Look, I'm not going to save the world anymore, but the market is asking for it, and rightly so.” Together with Bas van den Eerenbeemt of GEALAN Benelux, he researched the best application for BAM Wonen's assignment. Soon they decided to make it a pilot project with GEALAN BALANCE.

Following the sustainable approach

The homes of The Flower Garden are built completely future-oriented: gasless, equipped with solar panels and equipped with air-water heat pumps. Thanks to the excellent insulation of facades, floors and roofs, residents enjoy a constant and pleasant indoor climate, with a low energy bill and minimal ecological footprint. “We are proud to contribute to this with our systems,” Bas says. “In this case, the BALANCE profiles also fit perfectly with the sustainable approach of this project. That makes it extra valuable for us.”

It tastes like more

In the two apartment buildings, each consisting of ten homes, Ebbers Kozijnen installed a total of 178 window frames with BALANCE profiles of the system GEALAN S 9000 NL base, finished in the color RAL 9001. Maarten is downright positive about the result. The successful pilot tastes like more for both Ebbers Kozijnen and GEALAN: “The next project with BALANCE is already in the planning,” concludes Maarten enthusiastically.
