Premium Aware adhesives and sealants switched to recycled plastic packaging
Bostik will package its sustainable range of Premium Aware adhesives and sealants in recycled plastic. This change is part of Bostik's sustainable strategy to reduce the environmental impact of operations.

Premium Aware adhesives and sealants switch to recycled plastic packaging

Many plastic containers of tubes and buckets of adhesives and sealants are not yet recyclable, while it is valuable material and society is sensitive to plastic pollution. These are important reasons for manufacturer Bostik to start packaging its sustainable Premium Aware range in recycled plastic (PCR). The gray tubes are produced with at least 50% granules. The packaging is new, the contents familiar. The transition in early 2023 is part of Bostik's sustainable strategy to reduce the environmental impact of operations. The manufacturer aims to package all products in recycled plastic by the end of 2025.

The assortment Premium Aware are the adhesives, sealants and a PU foam for all applications in construction without solvent and with the highest emission certifications. Products that minimize environmental impact, even the packaging is now going to contribute to this. PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) is plastic granulate that has already been recycled, from plastic bottles or food packaging, for example. It is reprocessed into the robust and sustainable PCR, which significantly reduces the net impact of plastic on the environment.

Gray is the new green

The color of Premium Aware packaging is going to change to gray. This color is increasingly becoming the standard for recycled plastic packaging. Technically, gray pigment helps fade any discoloration of fused plastic. In addition, this color gives the convenience of printing custom information directly on packaging for regulations and supply chain logistics data. Gray is also an easy-to-read color for sensors in recycling centers. The packaging line change will also be done in a sustainable manner at Bostik and will take several months. Depending on stock levels, virgin plastic will be phased out during that period.
