Well for metals, not suitable for plastics
Self-adhesive tapes connect materials without damaging them. With 7,000 different products for a wide variety of applications, tesa is® the specialist in that field. However, the firm also offers solutions, such as the tesa® 60155 Adhesion Promoter EcoBond, which treats surfaces before bonding to further improve the adhesive strength of tapes in the ACXplus family, as tests show significantly higher peel adhesion values. This fast-drying, transparent solution is environmentally friendly and not harmful to the user's health. It is easily applied to most metals (e.g., aluminum and steel) and other non-porous materials, but is not suitable for plastics and other substrates with low surface energy.
"Before the tesa® 60155, we recommend cleaning the surface with a lint-free cloth containing ethanol, isopropanol or the tesa® 60040 Industry Cleaner. This removes dust, grease, oil, moisture and other contaminants. The surface temperature is ideally between 15 °C and 25 °C," explains marketing & communications manager Jonas De Backer.

"To achieve the best results, use a lint-free cloth to smear a thin layer of this adhesion promoter over the entire surface - not with a brush, pen or sponge. Wipe only once and also in one direction - not back and forth. After all, if too much solution is applied, it can reduce adhesion. It is important to wait at least 10 minutes to allow the solvents to evaporate. Make sure the treated surface is free of contaminants before applying the tape. Once the surface is treated, adhesion should occur within 2 hours. If it fails, the activation process must be repeated once. Since different substrate formulations exist, it is advisable to use this tesa® 60155 Adhesion Promoter EcoBond to be tested before use."
This product retains its efficacy for at least 12 months when stored in its original, sealed container and at room temperature. Therefore, it is also important to seal the container tightly after each use. After all, prolonged exposure to moisture in the air causes clouding of the product, causing it to lose its effectiveness. Use the tesa® 60155 Adhesion Promoter EcoBond also no longer if it is transparent instead of translucent.
