Both in the design, construction and use phases, the construction industry is increasingly focusing on sustainability. Sustainable buildings are better for the environment and more energy efficient in use than traditional construction. And more importantly, they are healthier for nature, residents and users! Bostik Benelux BV is aware of this.

Green and sustainability is a common thread in the policy and strategy plans of the manufacturer and supplier of adhesives and sealants for building materials. "This is not just a marketing matter, but an awareness of everyone in the chain," says Ruud Schrama, Market Development Manager C&C Benelux. "Bostik has a less environmentally damaging range with the very highest qualities and the highest durability. Revolutionary are our high-quality Bostik Premium Aware adhesives, sealants and PU foams for construction, without solvents and with the highest emission certifications."

Bostik's broadly applicable Premium Aware line consists of the phthalate-, MEG- and APEO-free acrylic sealant A990 PREMIUM ACRYLIC, the fast rain resistant acrylic sealant A750 EXTERIOR ACRYLIC, the paintable acrylic sealant A975 PREMIUM PAINTABLE, the strong construction and assembly adhesive with no edge zone contamination H980 HIGH TACK PREMIUM, the hybrid sealant and adhesive without staining H750 SEAL'N'BOND PREMIUM, the widely applicable hybrid sealant H995 PREMIUM ALL-ROUND, the all-round silicone sealant with low modulus S960 SILICONE NON STAINING and the airtight and sound-absorbing PU foam P935 FOAM'N'FILL PREMIUM FLEX PRO.

Combination of 'premium' and 'aware' products The products are the answer to the demand from contractors, processors, tradesmen and architects for quality products that do not harm the environment, says Schrama. "Moreover, we immediately upgraded and preserved Bostik's existing range of sealants and adhesives. One new, international line has been introduced, with a fresh look and a clear coding and segmentation, indicating the broad areas of application. Some products have been given a new look as a result, including Bostik Superfix 009. This product is now called Bostik H750 SEAL'N'BOND PREMIUM."

Bostik Benelux BV has long invested in sustainable production methods and packaging, Schrama emphasizes. "We work with electric forklifts and responsible wooden pallets. Waste in the factory is actively separated, and there are solar panels on our roof, which largely meet our energy needs. We bundle order volumes from our customers as much as possible."

"We have established collaborations with partners, shippers and service providers in the region and our share of rail transport has increased by as much as 475% with our export volumes. This was rewarded last year with the first Lean & Green star! With the new Bostik Premium Aware line, we have also succeeded in being the first player in the market to combine 'premium' and 'aware' products. Where 'premium' stands for innovation and the very highest quality products, 'aware' refers to, among other things, conscious, sustainable and environmentally friendly construction, wide applicability and elimination of harmful components. "In cooperation with our R&D department, we have held our adhesives, sealants and PU foams up to the light," says Schrama. "In doing so, we focused on sustainable product composition, without compromising on quality and processing. This led to a selection of eight products, all of which meet one or more international quality and environmental labels and are very widely applicable. Thanks to the highest emission certifications such as EC1PLUS and A+, the products are also very suitable for use in LEED and BREEAM projects."

As an example, he mentions the hybrid sealant H995 PREMIUM ALL-ROUND, which has very high CE certification and is suitable for many applications, including glazing, plumbing, walkable joints and construction and expansion joints. "Processors no longer have to change sealant tubes with every project. This also results in better utilization of the tubes, which means fewer spent tubes in the landfill. In doing so, we are in line with the ideas of Corporate Social Responsibility, which is prevalent throughout the construction chain."

Recypur with packaging system

Special in the Premium Aware range is PU foam P935 FOAM'N'FILL PREMIUM FLEX PRO; the very highest quality available from Bostik Benelux. "The PU foam has an EC1PLUS certification," says Schrama. "As icing on the sustainable cake, the foam is also available - on request - as Recypur. This means that the products are delivered according to a packaging system. This allows us to reduce waste on the construction site and at our customer's site even further and ensures that empty cans of PU foam are properly dismantled and recycled."
