HECO Screws for fixing pressure-soft insulation material

HECO screws for fastening pressure-soft insulation material

Fasteners and insulation materials of roofs are subjected to high loads, such as the weight of roofing or snow. Therefore, the use and fastening of pressure-soft insulation materials is a challenge in roof and facade construction.

Traditional fasteners such as partial-thread screws cannot fully absorb the compressive and shear forces. As a result, they cannot be used for mounting insulation materials with low compactness because they deform, reducing their insulating effect. The German screw manufacturer HECO-Schrauben has developed a solution for this. The HECO-TOPIX-Therm and the HECO-TOPIX-CombiConnect are user-friendly, efficient and practical screws especially designed for facades and roof insulation above the roof boarding.

Normally, all compressive loads on pressure-resistant insulation materials can be derived by pressing counter laths onto the material. This does not apply to pressure-soft insulation materials because they deform. The HECO-TOPIX-Therm has an additional thread under the head. With this, the counter battens are fastened by means of a spacer screw connection. Thus, the occurring forces are only diverted to the connecting materials with the threads in the counter battens. Acting compressive forces are diverted to the tenon, preventing the tenon from being pressed into the insulation material.

HECO-TOPIX-THERM in combination with the new HECO-TOPIX-CC is a perfect system for efficient wall and roof insulation above the roof boarding. Here, the forces occurring with the help of a sliding timber
in connection with the HECO-TOPIX-CC derived.

The HECO-TOPIX-CC was developed as a joining device for transmitting high tensile and compressive forces in wood construction. The screw consists of two threads with different pitch, which ensure that the parts to be joined are pulled together. Thanks to the combination of the HECO-TOPIX point and the cylinder head, even smallest distances between the screw and the edge of boards are possible without splitting the wood. The HECO-TOPIX-CC can thereby be used both as a joining tool in new construction and for "reinforcing" wood structures in existing construction.

The occurring shear forces can be derived by means of a shear bar. By fixing this roof edge detail with the HECO-TOPIX-CC, all occurring forces of the roof surface are distributed to the lower layer of shear bars.

The combination of the HECO-TOPIX-Therm and the HECO-TOPIX-CC is an efficient fastening system for facade and roof insulation with pressure-soft insulation materials. They are also suitable for any other insulation material. Both screws have CE marking based on ETA-11/0284. Due to the innovative thread technology, significantly fewer screws are required than with conventional systems. With the calculation software HSC from HECO, planners, architects and contractors can  Calculate how many screws are needed for a construction project.
