Naturally, Sindy Klunder sets the highest standards for the interior of her own home and office. After all, Klunder is an interior designer and owner of Het Wolthuis Interieur & Design. For her new, modern home and office in Ommen, she chose Intersteel stainless steel door fittings after she came into contact with them at the Architect@work fair in Rotterdam.
Modern design
The office is located in a beautifully modern designed building in the outskirts of Ommen (Ov). The architect for the exterior is Dedem Architectuur in Dedemsvaart. Klunder designed and executed the interior entirely according to her own ideas. Her old, original farmhouse was completely demolished for this purpose. In keeping with the modern design and materials used, the choice fell on high-quality, modern door hardware: Intersteel stainless steel door hardware with flat magnetic roses from the Baustil series. "For my home, I was looking for door hardware with a minimalist look that shows slim in appearance. This latch with rosette fits that perfectly." said Klunder.
Subtle and minimalist
The door handle furniture with the subtle flat rosettes of only 3 mm thickness are invisibly attached to the door leaf. Invisible hinges are also used and the door locks have a magnetic latch bolt, which is not only more attractive, but also quieter and safer. When the door is open, no latch bolt protrudes and closing is silent. "The magnetic lock also eliminates the need for an inset in the frame, which contributes to that sleek appearance." adds Klunder. "In my work, I often look for contrasts and in that I try to make the right combination with materials. The ceiling-high doors and the sleek door hardware are a great example of this." The application of this minimalist designed hardware, applied to beautiful wooden doors in wooden frames, produces a surprisingly subtle and understated result.
