New door leaf profiles heroal D 72 PF EM awarded with innovation prize

With the new heroal D 72 PF EM sash profile, thanks to optimized construction, work steps and material can be saved in door fabrication and lead times in the workshop can be reduced by up to 20 %. The processing process is thus not only significantly simplified but also particularly efficient, without relinquishing the well thought-out system logic of the heroal D 72 door system. As a particularly economical solution, heroal D 72 PF EM with its equipment and design options is hereby precisely tailored to the requirements of the front door market. For its high production efficiency, heroal D 72 PF EM was awarded the Innovation Award 2023 at BAU.

The established heroal D 72 house and project door system offers outstanding design diversity combined with the best performance features. The new sash profile heroal D 72 PF EM provides an additional option for door fabrication that allows for particularly fast and economical processing with fewer equipment and design options. The excellent production properties of heroal D 72 PF EM were also recognized at BAU 2023 by the jury of the Innovationspreis Architektur+Bauwesen. For the optimized production time and the faster, simplified assembly of the infill with clips instead of the more cumbersome panel gluing, they awarded the new sash profile with the Innovation Prize 2023. With this decision, the jury rewarded the fact that heroal D 72 PF EM meets today's market requirements in a special way.

The profile geometry including fixed inner stop without glazing bar (PF = "Panel Fixed") is designed for a standardized door filling thickness. These and other structural solutions allow for easier and more efficient manufacture and assembly (EM = "Easy Mount") without having to abandon the well thought-out system logic of the heroal D 72 door system. Thus the processing time of the entire system is reduced and assembly - also on the building site - is simplified, as processing steps are eliminated. The tools required are also no different from the heroal D 72 system, so no additional investment is required.

Constructive solutions simplify handling

The new insulating joint geometry of the heroal D 72 PF EM sash profile works warp-retarding without additional processing. This eliminates the usual work on the thermal break with sliding springs, making processing easier, faster and safer. Here, the insulation profile serves as the outer profile shell and as a holder for the demountable door filling.

Removable attachment of padding

Compared to full panel bonding with 2-component adhesive, the demountable fastening of the infill is not only the most efficient and most accurate type of panel assembly, it is now even faster and simpler: no prior machining of the profile is required for fastening. Instead of the familiar mechanical locking pins, a circumferential clip profile ensures the connection of the door filling to the sash profile. Applying the sealing cord is also no longer necessary.

Fixed inner stop

Because the door leaf profile does not require glazing beads, processing is particularly quick and easy: the leaf profile with fixed inside stop is designed for a standard door infill thickness of 48 mm. Additional processing of the door infill is not required.

Improved sealing and insulation

The vulcanized molded corners connect the door seal to the new rebate insulation of the hardware, eliminating the need to use conventional sealing wedges. This eliminates extensive work steps and material use is reduced. The new rebate insulation is made of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) and allows optimal sealing to the outside of the door filling.

Wing profile placed behind the stop

Because the sash profile is behind the stop, the outer shadow joint is omitted and no gap widths need to be maintained on the outside. For the inside, a flat, flush or overlapping sash can be used. With the overlay profile, the shadow gap is eliminated both inside and outside.

Sill for clamping

Matching the simple and efficient assembly of the heroal D 72 PF EM sash profile, the new 2-piece continuous sill solution can be used for door closure in addition to the classic intermediate screw-on sill solution. This combines the advantages of the continuous sill running under the frame with the advantages of the surface-mounted sill of the intermediate-screw solution. Moreover, the profiles are only clicked on. In this way, processing times can be optimized and flexibly adapted to the order situation and customer specifications.
