Sun protection sliding panels are the perfect solution for anyone who wants to play with sunlight and privacy. Because the sliding panels are fixed in a rail, they can be moved very easily. Both manually and electrically, allowing shadow zones to be created in no time. Moreover, the sun's heat is blocked even before the sun's rays reach the glass. Thanks to Henderson's price-efficient track systems, these benefits are now within everyone's reach.
Henderson has been active on the Dutch market since 1965 as a specialist in various types of sliding and folding door hardware and track systems. The company not only stands for high-quality technical and sustainable solutions, but also for continuous development and innovation based on market requirements and in accordance with the highest product standards. The wide system range for sunproof sliding panels is an excellent fit with this.
Sunproof sliding panels are not only popular in restaurants, hotels, conference rooms and meeting rooms, but are now also finding eager acceptance in office spaces and homes. And for good reason, since the panels add a lot of practical as well as aesthetic value.
In this article, Rene van den Biggelaar shares two project examples that illustrate the variety of possibilities in residential construction. First, the Business Unit Manager of Henderson mentions a luxury villa in Almere, which is finished with vertical wooden slats. To ensure optimum sun protection, three panel arrangements have been added under the edge of the roof overhang: one of nine doors, one of five doors and one of four doors, allowing flexible control of sunlight on three gable sides.
At the base of sun protection sliding panels is a black steel frame with vertical strips that perfectly complement the special aesthetic of the facade. Henderson's Traverse parking system allows for optimal operation. "With Traverse, functionality and aesthetics come together perfectly," says Van den Biggelaar.
"Thanks to a convenient system stacking function, the panels can be pushed (parked) away from the wall very easily and completely at right angles. This preserves the homogeneous appearance of the room at all times." If residents want to control solar radiation, they have two options. "First, it is possible to create a completely closed wall, with the last panel also functioning as a revolving door. But closing a select number of windows is also possible, preserving sightlines and daylighting."
Traverse is specially designed for panels up to 150 kilograms, Van den Biggelaar emphasizes. "With this, 80 to 90 percent of market needs can be met. Both outdoors and indoors."
Unique to the system is the compact anodized aluminum rail, which requires only limited installation space. "Moreover, the system can be installed very easily. Traverse includes only a 62 x 82 mm (wxh) rail, a bend and a T-piece, with which we can accommodate any desired panel movement: forward, backward, to the left or to the right. The hanging roller and the shape of the rail determine exactly to which direction the panels can be guided."
Because the wheels in the hanging roller are made of plastic instead of steel, smooth and quiet operation is ensured. "The wheels float, as it were, over the flat profile," he says.
A second project that Van den Biggelaar likes to highlight is a residential house on the Veluwe with GeoStylistix long-form facade bricks in a light gray color. Around this, a finish in anthracite was chosen. Both for the dormers, gutters and solar shutters. In this case, open wooden panels were chosen at a certain angle, which also add a playful element to the facade. For the controls, Henderson recommended the Shutter Slide series. "Shutter Slide includes a complete and affordable range of rail systems for solar shutters," says Van den Biggelaar. "Especially for coastal areas, for example, we offer the Soltaire 120, which with its stainless steel housing, sealed bearings and anodized aluminum rail (25 Mu) is perfectly resistant to salt attack and corrosion. The Soltaire 120 rail system was also chosen in this project, which is suitable for panel weights of up to 120 kg."
New to Henderson's Shutter Slide range are the Husky Pro systems. "Unique to the Husky Pro series are the specifically shaped wheels in the runner, making it run even smoother and promoting anti-jump," Van den Biggelaar concludes. "If desired, the rail can be sealed with end caps and a separate softclose unit (dual action/open and close side) is also integrated."
Familiar options such as equalizing and telescopic also apply to this rail. "In addition, users have a choice of manual or electric operation." For electric operation, a new and universal motor has recently become available.
