New and improved products in the sliding door market

Innovations continue at rapid pace

Henderson has been active on the Dutch market since 1965 as a specialist in various types of sliding and folding door hardware and track systems. The company not only stands for high-quality technical and sustainable solutions, but also for continuous development and innovation based on market requirements and in accordance with the highest product standards. The new fiberglass lower thresholds, the Husky Pro hardware system and the Evolve Magnetic sliding door hinge are telling examples of this.  

Folding doors and sun protection sliding panels are increasingly being used in residential and commercial construction. Henderson has been responding to this for several years with the Securefold folding wall fitting, which comes complete with rail, frame and door rubbers as well as the lower threshold. 

"Securefold is available as both a top-hung system (where the rail and support structure are provided at the top of the folding doors) and a bottom-hung system (where the heavy, load-bearing parts are mounted on the ground)," says Rene van den Biggelaar, Business Unit Manager Netherlands at Henderson. "The system lends itself ideally to application on wooden doors."

Custom fiberglass lower sills

For a long time, an aluminum sill was supplied with the top-hung systems, while DTS (plastic) lower sills were used with the under-hung systems. "Because the market demand for fiberglass is increasing, we have now developed two high-quality fiberglass sills together with supplier Ekosiet: one sill for the top-hanging system and one sill for the underfloor system," said Van den Biggelaar. 

"As a result, processors and end users of Securefold can now also enjoy the benefits of fiberglass, which is significantly less sensitive to expansion and contraction. The material has high dimensional stability, which promotes smooth folding. Moreover, cold bridges are not an issue." 

The fiberglass sills are suitable for both outward and inward folding systems and are produced exactly to size. In the correct length and including the correct studs and fixing holes, making installation a piece of cake. The new sills come standard in black.

High-quality and powerful hardware system for sliding doors

Henderson also recently introduced the updated Husky Pro; a high-quality, high-performance hardware system for single and double sliding doors that has been improved in every detail. 

"Husky Pro is suitable for ceiling mounting, wall mounting as well as recessed and can carry door weights of up to 120 kilograms," says Van den Biggelaar. "An important innovation compared to our well-known and appreciated Husky 100 aluminum system are the new wheels. The runner features wheels in a specific shape, which makes it run even smoother and promotes anti-jump." 

The anodized aluminum rail is already equipped with mounting holes for mounting directly to the ceiling, and using aluminum (concealed) wall brackets, wall mounting is also possible. The rail can be sealed with end caps and also the separate softclose unit (double action/open and close side) is integrated into the rail. Known options such as equalizing, telescopic or cover caps also apply to this new rail. 

"In addition to anodized aluminum, Husky Pro is also available in black, allowing a stylish combination with both wood and steel doors." Husky Pro is compact, sleek and suitable for numerous applications.

Electric sliding door hardware based on magnets

A third and final innovation is the Evolve Magnetic sliding door hinge based on magnets, which features an even more compact sliding track. The movement of the runners no longer uses a drive belt, but rather the interaction of the magnetic fields in the motor. This enables smooth running and noiseless operation. 

"Because all the technology is integrated into the rail, end customers are assured of a sleek and luxurious look and feel," said Van den Biggelaar. "Unlike its big brother - the Evolve D1 - with Evolve Magnetic the settings no longer take place in the rail itself, but can easily be called up and changed via an app on the smartphone." 

Evolve Magnetic can carry door weights of up to 100 kg. The system is available for both wooden and glass doors and is self-learning. In addition, numerous options can be connected, such as a push button, remote control, motion detector or radar detector. Manual operation is also always possible (push & go). "Evolve Magnetic is well stocked in our warehouse. Combined with the favorable price, magnetic guidance is coming within reach in even more residential and commercial buildings."
