You probably recognize the following the moment a front door is installed in your home - or elsewhere, of course. As soon as a warm period arrives, you can bet that customers will start complaining about their front door because it is warped by the heat.
But not to worry; of course there is a solution. And it comes in the form of Magnetude. This unique wing-covering
system for both aluminum and PVC ensures that the known bimetallic effect and its consequences are completely off the table.
Every cabinetmaker who installs a front door knows the problem surrounding dilation. As soon as it gets hot and sunny, front doors start to expand due to the resulting heat, causing warping in the door frame, with all its consequences.
Given the current popularity of wing-covering systems, this is sometimes quite problematic. After all, the front door is the calling card of a house. But unfortunately, that front door is then wedged into the frame, distorted by dilation. Unfortunately, the carpenter on duty then has no choice but to replace the entire door. The users are not happy about that. You understand this. Because, the production and installation of a completely new door will of course have to be done at your own expense.
This can be done better, Harinck's R&D department must have thought. A unique solution has therefore been developed: a sash covering system for both aluminium and PVC that works with door panels that are not glued to the inner panel but mounted via the magnetude principle: Magnetude®.
Franck De Munster, general manager at Harinck, explains, "Dilatation is a thing of the past with this innovation: when temperatures rise, only the outside of the (front) door expands. The inner panel, on which the hinges and lock sit, does not warp so the door will no longer pinch. And, the problem is solved."
The principle of working with magnetism, is an amazingly simple solution to the ubiquitous problem of dilation. "It is a solution that in a few years you will think how we ever did it without this system," De Munster believes. "After all, the benefits are legion, and we're still discovering new ones every day."
A first big advantage, of course, is the time saving, which is achieved. "The production of a classic wing covering system quickly takes 2.5 hours. Afterwards, it has to dry for another 12 hours. Suppliers of windows and doors therefore lose too much time for delivery to the joiner for a project."
With Magnetude® that time loss is definitely a thing of the past. "In this system, in fact, the sandwich panel is mounted to glass size, after which the outer plate is placed via magnetism. All in all, this takes barely six minutes."
For the end customer, there is no significant price difference between Magnetude® and a classic sash overlay system. For the joiner, yes: "The system costs about the same in both cases. The big difference is what happens after installation. In fact, after installation, the front door may be damaged. Then the cabinetmaker has to fix that problem. Often that happens within the period of liability or warranty and he has to bear the cost himself. Thanks to Magnetude® the joiner will incur fewer costs: in fact, because dilation is no longer an issue, that cost is completely eliminated.
Joiners often hold their hearts after the installation of a front door in new construction projects; anything can happen between installation and final completion that could damage the front door and require him to replace the entire door. At Magnetude® the filler panel is installed as a preliminary panel, after which the final wing top panel can be assembled by one man the day before delivery.
"If there is subsequent damage to a Magnetude®-front door, the cabinetmaker can still rest assured: in fact, all elements of the system can be replaced individually. As a result, the cabinetmaker only has to replace the part that is damaged. Therefore, in case of warranty or liability after completion, not only does this provide a cost saving, but the cabinetmaker also loses much less time."
Magnetude® fits all profile systems in both aluminum and PVC. It is applicable both one-sided (on the outside) and two-sided (inside and outside) sash overlay. While with a classic glued sash overlay system it is not always possible to perfectly calliper the door leaf using callage blocks, this is not a problem with this technology with magnet.
"The Magnetude®-doors can be excellently combined with a new range of door pulls. These are not fixed through, so the inside of the door is a perfectly even surface, without visually disturbing elements," De Munster points out.
"Moreover, burglars don't get a chance. Even if they were to succeed in removing the 2.5-mm outer plate, they would still be confronted with a classic door panel fixed with the glazing batten in the glass rebate."
Construction promoters are also becoming more and more convinced of the qualities of Magnetude®. "The elimination of dilation and being able to work with replaceable parts is an even greater advantage for those larger players, because of the economies of scale. The savings on restoration costs run into the thousands of euros for them," reports De Munster.
The end customer also experiences sheer benefits. "Those who have the ambition to improve the appearance of their Magnetude®-front door to change, can do so in a simple and budget-friendly way, since only the front plate needs to be replaced. Thus, a classic door can be transformed into a modern door in less than ten minutes."
De Munster concludes, "With a magnet, all kinds of decoration can be attached to the outer leaf of the door without screwing or gluing."
That Magnetude® genesters strike, Harinck has already experienced several times. The company has already had to expand its production workshop four times to meet rising demand.
