That one sliding door is not the other is proven once again by one of the largest manufacturers of sliding door systems in Europe. Woelm GmbH of Heiligenhaus, Germany, has made a mission of further developing sliding door technology. Those who opt for the innovative solutions with regard to assembly, ease of operation and aesthetics that Woelm GmbH has to offer can call themselves leaders in the industry.
Reinoud van der Kroon of Woelm GmbH is happy to take us through all the possibilities in the field of sliding door technology and also mentions some of the new options that have become available.
"For the Modul.Concept 80 there are now two accessories, namely the HELM SmartTip FG 40 and FG 80, for 40 kg and 80 kg sash weights respectively. Specially developed for use with sliding doors mounted in wall niches, the SmartTip system offers unprecedented ease of operation. By pressing against the leading edge of the sash, it receives a push from the wall niche in the right direction. This allows the sliding door to disappear completely into the niche when open. Needless to say, this benefits the aesthetics of the whole," Van der Kroon explains. "Protruding handles are therefore a thing of the past; a bowl handle in the sash is sufficient."
Protruding handles are a thing of the past, a bowl handle in the sash is sufficient.
SmartTip, however, offers even more comfort, namely an integrated collecting end damper. Van der Kroon: "We also know the collection end damper as a separate accessory as HELM SmartStop and this functionality is therefore also included in SmartTip. This end damper ensures that the door reaches its end point in the wall niche in a gentle and controlled manner. This makes operation even more comfortable and the doors therefore last longer. If you combine SmartTip and SmartStop together, the sliding door also closes in a silky smooth manner. Beautiful, comfortable and safe."
Another very welcome development is HELM SmartClose. "This accessoire ensures that a sliding door can be mechanically opened or closedat is, without electricity. So it does have the comfort of electrically closing sliding doors, but not the problems of laying and connecting cabling." Asked about the ease of installation of the new HELM sliding door accessories, we get a clear answer: "As you would expect from Woelm GmbH may expect, the mounting has also been carefully thought out. Looking at SmartTip, for example, we see that the system is slid onto one end of the rail with an angle profile and clamped into the rail with a U-profile. So there is no need for additional drilling. The SmartClose simply attaches to one of the rail ends."
