More than five years ago, Goran Sadek was a furniture maker who had spent 17 years in the service of an employer making furniture and restoring antiques. When the company stopped, Sadek started for himself. Something with doors and direct contact with people was what he wanted most. So he started Doorsonline.nl, an online store for competitively priced interior doors. Customers now know how to find him because the business is doing well. Because customers often order door hardware right away, he now works together with deurklink24.nl, a webshop for quality hardware.
Doorsonline.nl is a webshop with a wide range of interior doors from well-known brands such as Skantrae, Weekamp and CanDo. These are traded from a commercial building in Nieuwkoop. "I searched for a long time for a suitable location close to my hometown of Alphen aan den Rijn, but here in Nieuwkoop I have a nice central location for my customers," says Sadek. "I was able to secure premises here with sufficient storage capacity, a small woodworking shop and an office. Customers also stop by, so it's also a bit of a store."
And those customers don't just come from The Green Heart. "No, no," Sadek exclaims, "They come from all over the Netherlands, but also from Belgium, Germany and even Italy. That's because I carry such low prices. Doorsonline deals in new doors that are supposedly 'over'. These are older models, over-ordered ones, doors delivered in the wrong size or color, or doors with the wrong direction of rotation. It's hard to take those to the dump, which is a waste of the beautiful doors and also unsustainable. So I buy them up and offer them at a competitive price. In the workshop I can cut doors to size if the customer requests it."
Doorsonline.nl currently has about three thousand doors in stock, many of which are not even on the site yet. Sadek: "Someone takes photos and puts them on the site for me, but that takes a lot of time. There is a considerable turnover in stock because it is getting busier and busier. Doorsonline.nl's name recognition is growing, mainly through word of mouth. They know how to find me, even abroad. This is not only because of the competitive prices, but also because of the wide assortment and very fast delivery times."
Deurklink24.nl came into the picture because Sadek noticed that customers often asked if she could also order the hardware with it. "I then started looking on the Internet and ended up at Deurklink24.nl. There I ordered some samples to see and test whether it was good quality, had no play, whether it would stay straight even after a while and whether it matched the doors. That all turned out fine, the handles withstood the scratch tests with keys on the paint well and the price-quality ratio was very interesting. I now sell the door handles directly through my site and have given them the names of my own children. For the customers, of course, it is nice that they can buy doors and hardware all at once. And the door handles also have a short delivery time, even for larger quantities. At a hardware store you quickly run into limited stocks. Now we just need to find a way to get all those doors neatly on the site."
