Airtightness is crucial for low energy and passive building projects, both in new construction and renovation. Cold bridges must therefore be avoided at all times. Thus, the SIEGENIA Comfort Unit, a complete solution with pre-assembled ECO PASS sill for Lift&Slide systems, can now also be supplied with Stadurlon ProfileTec, a thermally insulating solution, which prevents thermal and cold bridges between windows and the building envelope in the case of high windows (up to the floor), Lift&Slide systems and the installation of sills, among others. Moreover, with FrameTec, the German manufacturer Stadur also offers a similar solution for frame widening, the installation of roller shutter boxes and the connection of window sills.
The production of sliding doors is a complex and time-consuming job. This is why SIEGENIA offers with the Comfort Unit its fully pre-assembled ECO PASS bottom threshold. From carriage and guide rail to handle and locking rod: everything is cut to size, pre-drilled, sealed and assembled in production. This complete package includes the corner connection to the window, the middle section with drainage system, the attachment and adapter profile and the seals. SIEGENIA thus guarantees optimum insulation, excellent heat transfer coefficients and the water- and wind-tightness of the finished sash.
The window manufacturer can attach the sill plug & play to the window, all fittings are included with the package. The well-thought-out design of only 5 mm sill height ensures seamless glazing all the way to the sill in wood and wood-aluminum systems - with plastic windows, this depends on the profile used. Thanks to the flush-fitting frame profile, the leak-proof sill connects inside and outside barrier-free.
"To further optimize stability and thermal insulation values, we recommend combining the ECO PASS lower sill for lift-slide systems with Stadurlon ProfileTec. This thermally insulating solution avoids thermal and cold bridges between the window sections and the building envelope," says Christoph Scheuring, product manager at SIEGENIA.
"Our first contacts with Stadur date back to 2014, and a year later we started delivering the first combined solutions. After all, with heavy lift sliding systems, there were regular complaints from the market about noise formation when the sashes were sliding. By underpinning the lower sill entirely with ProfileTec elements, that problem was solved immediately. Since this solution does not absorb water, the installation also remains 100 % rot-free over time. For some time now, Stadur's product has also been prescribed in our installation instructions. We first launched this complete package in Switzerland, later also in Germany, and now the demand from the Benelux countries is also increasing. It may cost a little more in purchase, but it improves the quality and service life of the installation and significantly reduces the number of complaints."
While Stadurlon ProfileTec is an ideal solution for lift-slide systems, high windows (up to the bottom) and the installation of sills, this product group from Stadur also includes Stadurlon FrameTec for frame extensions to bridge gaps and pillars, as well as for the installation of roller shutter boxes and the connection of window sills.
"Both products were developed in Germany and are also produced there. They are available in different heights and in lengths up to 7000 mm," says Marc Nickel, construction sales manager for Germany and the Benelux countries at Stadur.
"In addition to the excellent thermal insulation, these developments offer many other advantages for the user. For example, the material absorbs almost no water and is completely rot-proof. The panels are also light, which improves handling, and can withstand loads of up to 1,000 kg. The outer layers made of Stadurlon plastic, 2 mm thick, are available in various white shades, and in between, in addition to extruded polystyrene foam, there is a special layer made of StadurFoam. We can also supply these solutions on request in a different thickness and with a different finish, for example with a wood decor. The StadurFoam layer can be variably positioned, allowing the assembly to be adapted for screwing on the different types of profile systems."
