Door specialist significantly expands range of interior doors

Industrial increasingly popular

The range of interior doors from Skantrae was already impressive. Now another number of variants have been added to this, especially in the popular SlimSeries. "Not just to put more doors in the shop window, the market demands it," assures Frank van Putten, manager of marketing communications for the interior door specialist. "Industrial is in."

Skantrae is expanding its popular SlimSeries collection with new models, variants, glass options and hardware packages. It is an inevitable consequence of the growing demand for minimalist interior doors that fit into industrial furnishings. Van Putten: "Not so long ago it was 'rural' that was the order of the day, now it is mainly sleek, minimalist and black or white. Even rosettes of door handles have to be smaller and smaller, so you don't see them anymore." The art of omission.

Narrower, narrowest

Decisive for the appearance of these slender doors are the 60 mm (obtuse) or 73 mm (overlapping) wide doorposts and thresholds, the up to 25 mm narrow rods and the specially developed door fittings and ditto locks. Van Putten: "The nice thing for the customer is that the doors are made of wood and therefore affordable. In steel something like this easily costs 1,500 euros, a SlimSeries door not even a third of that."

"In addition, we carry the SlimSeries Ultra for those customers who want to take their minimalist design one step further. For this we have managed to reduce the style width to just thirty millimeters. That's extremely narrow and only available as a pivot or sliding door. You understand that we had to develop locks and hardware for that before we could proceed with the door development."

The sills of Ultra doors are 80 mm wide to allow space for the pivot or sliding mechanism.

New variants

To offer customers even more choice in the regular SlimSeries door range, the Skantrae added a number of variants. These include a black panel door (SSL 4080), a black door with mist glass (SSL 4000 NEV) for a misty, frosted view, a white door with clear glass (SSL 4400) and one with mist glass (SSL 4400 NEV). These stock models are available in all rod configurations. Skantrae has expanded the custom collection the black SSL 4000 ROO and white SSL 4400 ROO, both of which feature dark, translucent smoked glass.

Ultra

The SlimSeries Ultra has also been expanded. Black doors with mist glass (SSL 4100 NEV) and smoked glass (SSL 4100 ROO) can now be ordered in the custom range. White doors are now available with clear glass (SSL 4200), mist glass (4200 NEV) and smoked glass (4200 ROO).

Hardware

In matching hardware, customers may look forward to similar moves toward sleeker and more minimalist. New door handles and lever handles, such as the rectangular Dayton series, the round Petana and the flat, narrow Cleves series are available in white, black and stainless steel, with the Dayton and Cleves featuring a "minimal" version. There, the rosette is only a fraction larger than the handle. Locks to black door handles and lever handles are now standard in black to further enhance the sleek unity.
