Fittings and draught excluder for the carpentry industry

The assortment of the company from Soest consists of hardware for windows, frames and doors and draft proofing systems. Frank Kok and his brother Genio took over the family business from their father years ago. 

The biggest buyer of J.P.M. Kok's products is the carpentry industry. Frank Kok: "Our hardware is especially suitable for wooden windows. We supply through the hardware trade."

Stock

The company was founded in 1935 by the two brothers' grandfather and later taken over by their father. Frank joined the company in 1983, his brother in 1991. Kok: "Back then we were still in a small office in our parents' house. Later we moved once and since 2004 we are in this building that we built ourselves. To be able to serve our customers well and keep a large stock, we also bought a storage building. We now work here with eight people." 

Most of the products come from abroad. "These are mainly products that we see abroad and that we think are also suitable for the Dutch market. Sometimes minor adjustments are needed. These are often articles of which not everyone immediately sees the advantages. In the 1960s, for example, my father brought the Habo espagnolette with brake release to the market here, when there was no demand for it at all. Since then it has even been copied."

Excellent memory

In addition to building hardware, draught exclusion profiles are an important product group. For example, the company supplies the unique Q-lon draught excluder profile. Kok: "A draught excluder profile is usually made of epdm or something similar, but the Q-lon is a foam profile with a lining around it. There is no second of this in the world. The foam has an excellent memory and always wants to return to its original shape."

Circular construction

The most important trend in construction is the shift to circular construction, Kok notes. "We find that very important ourselves and it's in our DNA. Our own building was also built completely sustainably, which put us ahead of the field in 2004. We also produce hardly any waste and run largely on solar energy. We try to encourage our suppliers to work sustainably as well. This has already resulted in a cradle to cradle certificate for our Q-lon supplier. It is important to us that we treat the earth well. For us, this goes without saying."
