'From Glass to Wall' - total offer for the window and door sector
Soudal, renowned manufacturer of quality insulation and sealing products, offers solutions for optimal installation and sealing of exterior joinery. At Polyclose, all spotlights will be focused on the total package that the specialist can offer for the window and door sector: 'From Glass to Wall'. With innovative products for windows and doors and high-quality solutions for the connection between exterior joinery and masonry, there will again be much to discover on the stand. There will also be coffee cakes every morning at Soudal.
The Soudal Group focuses on construction, industry and retail with products in different groups: silicones and other mastics, PU foams, adhesives, coatings, technical aerosols and construction chemicals. "We continuously invest in our production sites and are committed to targeted acquisitions. At Tenachem in Latvia, for example, they produce sealants for sealing double-glazing, and by acquiring Belgian company Sapac P&R, we can offer solutions for (post-)insulating PVC or aluminum window profiles," says product manager Steven Van Orshaegen.
"Under the name Soudal Window Manufacturing (SWM), we launched a collection of high-end industrial products for use in the production of windows and doors. Our product portfolio also includes specific solutions for sealing between exterior joinery and masonry. Innovation is the driver of our organic growth and this is again evident at Polyclose, where we are once again highlighting numerous new solutions."
The elastic PU foam Flexifoam, called "the blue foam" among professionals, was developed more than 10 years ago and is still one of the top products in the market today. Soudal is now introducing a new generation of this product, specifically Flexifoam X-tra (Click & Fix®). "This new version is even more elastic and can therefore cope even better with joint movements in two directions, both during compression (compression) and stretching (decompression). This product immediately also contributes to a high-quality thermal, acoustic and durable seal, without cold bridges, that is maintained for many years. It also has a positive impact on the airtightness and energy efficiency of the building," explains the product manager.
"Moreover, with Flexifoam X-tra 30%* we guarantee more yield. In other words, with the same volume of product, the processor can fill more meters of joints."
* Average relative to other flexible PU foams.
Soudal's innovations are always developed for a clear reason. For example, building products such as coatings, varnishes, lacquers, adhesives, waterproofings, sealants and foams based on polyurethane (PU) contain diisocyanates that cause health problems if used unsafely. Therefore, since mid-2023, anyone working professionally with such products must be trained and certified. The specialist is now launching the new miter adhesive Soudabond 644 Duo, which is exempt from this mandatory training.
"We also notice more and more that the glass is glued into the window frame, for example to make the whole more stable or to have more design options: larger dimensions in the case of PVC windows and a minimalist look in the case of ALU windows. A good bonding of the glass in the frame and a guaranteed compatibility with the edge sealing of insulating glass are therefore crucial, which is why our R&D department worked on the development of the new 2-component silicone Soudabond 632 Duo, which will be tested at the IFT in Rosenheim during 2024," Van Orshaegen concludes. "Finally, we are presenting a brand new line of industrial cleaners. This range includes four liquid products and three aerosols for cleaning systems in PVC and aluminum. So, at Soudal, we are not resting on our laurels and are thinking with you about how we can make the job of window and door manufacturers safer and easier."
