A suitable sliding and folding door hardware or track system for every project:

'Our customers never have to sell 'no' again'

Henderson Nederland has been active on the Dutch market since 1965 as a specialist in technically high-quality and durable sliding and folding door hardware and track systems. In addition to the standard products stocked at hardware and building materials stores, do-it-yourself stores, builder's merchants and web shops, among others, the company is also increasingly involved in special projects. "Recently, we even adapted part of our organization accordingly," says René van den Biggelaar, Business Unit Manager at Henderson Netherlands. "Several employees expanded their knowledge and we developed an internal program, enabling us to guide not only our own customers, but also architects, contractors and end users from A to Z."

"Together with our customers, we like to identify the needs of the architect and/or end user," says Van den Biggelaar. "Based on their wishes and requirements, the user profile, the environmental conditions and the available budget, we like to select the best fitting products for each project. These can be standard products, but if required we can also modify products. That this is appreciated by the market is proven by the many projects we have now completed."

Henderson Netherlands designed and manufactured special profiles for the shutters around the QO hotel (Hotel Amstelkwartier) in Amsterdam.

As an example, he mentions the Amphia Hospital in Breda, for which Henderson Nederland fitted 450 of the 527 single rooms with special sliding door hardware. "Chosen was our self-closing Sirocco hardware, which allows the sliding doors between rooms and bathrooms to close independently and without a motor." Because not only patients and nursing staff but sometimes entire hospital beds have to be moved via the sliding door, a large passageway - and thus a longer rail profile - was desired, Van den Biggelaar says.  "We also integrated a special intermediate stop into the system, which means the door does not have to be fully opened during 'normal' access."

In the project on Kunstlaan in Brussels, aesthetics and ease of use go hand-in-hand thanks to Henderson Nederland's project-specific solutions.

The customer-specific Sirocco system was extensively tested at the Amphia Hospital. Some further optimizations were made where necessary, after which the complete hardware concept was assembled, produced and assembled. A second project example concerns the QO hotel (Hotel Amstelkwartier) in Amsterdam. This hotel is equipped all around with electrically driven and insulated shutters. These shutters open and close automatically based on the outside climate and solar radiation, preventing heat loss or overheating of the hotel rooms. Henderson Netherlands designed and manufactured special profiles for this purpose, says Van den Biggelaar. "Moreover, we adapted our Evolve hardware project-specifically. For example, the firmware and the model of the motor were adjusted, so that the shutters open and close silently. "In Cadzand, large, luxurious villas will be completed this year (project Blanke Top - The Residence), which will be fitted with high-quality sun blinds on the outside. "Because of the seaside location, high requirements were placed on the hardware, which must not corrode. To demonstrate the resistance of the Soltaire 250 hardware, we installed a test fixture that was exposed to all local conditions for a year. The client was so satisfied with this that the hardware was also applied."

Finally, Henderson Netherlands is involved in a project in Brussels, for which the architect designed wavy, iron and solar retardant folding curtains for the exterior facade. "For this project, we worked out a sustainable alternative and presented it in a mock-up, which closely approximated the architect's look and feel," says Van den Biggelaar. "In addition, we adapted our standard hardware for folding doors, so that optimal aesthetics and ease of use now go perfectly hand-in-hand."
