VMRG Hallmark with construction site inspection prepared for Quality Assurance Act

The inspection regime of the VMRG Quality Mark includes construction site inspections for each VMRG member starting January 2020. With the VMRG Quality Mark, VMRG members show that their clients can expect guaranteed quality in facades. The construction site inspections fit well with the Quality Assurance for Construction Act, which will take effect on January 1, 2021.

A VMRG Quality Mark company delivers guaranteed quality not only at the product level ex factory, but up to and including the final product installed in the building structure. To be able to demonstrate this, SKG-IKOB Certification, the independent institute for testing and certification for the construction industry, carries out site inspections in addition to factory inspections, IKB inspections and test box inspections. During the unannounced building site inspections it assesses whether the VMRG member company assembles the facade elements in accordance with the VMRG Quality Requirements and Recommendations. It also checks whether the performance of the facade elements, including the structural connection, corresponds to the performance that applies to the building.

VMRG members use building site inspections to relieve their clients (contractors) and they can show the quality assurance agency that the quality is controlled. That which is already checked by SKG-IKOB, the quality assurance contractor no longer needs to check under the Quality Assurance Act. With building site inspections, VMRG members not only add value to the product, but also to the process. This prevents failure costs on the building site, eliminates time-consuming inspection processes and gives the client and the quality assurance agency assurance that the installed quality product meets the specified requirements.

Results of building site inspections are discussed, anonymously, in the VMRG Technical Committee. Based on the results, this committee assesses whether adjustments to the VMRG Quality Requirements and Advices are necessary. In this way the VMRG, together with its members, continues to work on improving the quality of (assembled) aluminum and steel facade elements.
