The professional carpentry manufacturer and contractor now know their way around: Burghouwt Bouwbeslag, with several branches in the Netherlands and an impressive assortment, is more than a supplier of materials to the construction industry. The level of knowledge at the company is high and they regularly present the customers with novelties.
Rob van Baars, commercial manager at Burghouwt, explains. "We see our customers as true partners and like to help them get an edge in the market. To do that, we keep up with the latest developments. The addition of wood-aluminum frames is a great example of this. A beautiful and aesthetic product, but above all sustainable. Our customers are also enthusiastic about wood-aluminum, as examples I would like to mention Geri Eichinger of Timmerfabriek Den Hollander in Noordwijk and Ruud Puts of Timmerbedrijf Har Puts in Maasbracht. With both companies we have a nice partnership, they carry the wood-aluminum message full of verve."
At Timmerbedrijf Har Puts in Maasbracht, they produce wood-aluminum window frames to their full satisfaction, thanks to Burghouwt. Ruud Puts is commercial director there; together with his brother Sjuul Puts, who is technical director, he runs the company. "We are a real family business, just like Burghouwt," Ruud opens the conversation.
Outside a stylish appearance in anthracite-gray aluminum finished.
"In 2018 my brother and I took over the company, we build façade frames in wood and wood-aluminum. We do that with a team of 16 employees. Burghouwt supplied all the hardware with us, as a chain partner. When we researched which aluminum shell would be best for us, we ended up with Gutmann in Germany. That's where their beautiful product was chosen. However, we did not want to buy from them directly, but, like other materials, to source everything through Burghouwt. Why? Because you don't accomplish anything on your own. We prefer to do what we are good at, which is producing window frames. It is better to leave the purchasing and distribution to an expert who has earned his spurs. Burghouwt takes care of everything for us, including this."
Burghouwt supplies Carpenter Har Puts with the aluminum shell for each frame. "Always on a project basis and as customization. Of course we have the corresponding Burghouwt hardware in stock here. The cooperation between our companies can be called intensive, we have weekly contact," said Ruud.
That is Ruud Puts' conclusion, in response to market demand. "Yet it is still a relatively unknown product among architects and contractors. That while we can achieve a U-value of 0.63 with it. Demand is therefore increasing steadily. I personally think that we will experience a turning point. There will come a time when we supply more wood-aluminum than traditional wood."
The advantages of wood-aluminum window frames are therefore great. A maintenance-free, aluminum shell on the outside protects the wood and is available in all RAL colors. "Also with textured paint," Ruud adds. "In terms of finishing, Gutmann's aluminum peels are sublime. Corner joints are first welded, then sanded and only then coated. The end result is an aluminum shell with no visible corner joints. That does something to a facade; it's a very aesthetic solution."
Carpenter Har Puts also continues to innovate and is able to do so thanks in part to the partnership with Burghouwt. "As I said, together you achieve more. Burghouwt speaks our language and thinks with us," Ruud says in conclusion.
